The melting point of ice cream is a function of how much air is incorporated to the mix, and the size of the ice crystals formed as a result(air acts as an insulator), the less air the crystals are larger.

C'mon people support your local establishments.
Exactly what local establishments fill the same niche as a Dairy Queen? For that matter, outside of a couple of Gelato places, what local ice cream shops are in BR?

Peanut Buster Parfait is the devil
We had one close to home when I was growing up and I had every NFL Helmet available from eating Ice Cream sundaes.

The only Dairy Queens to eat at are the old timey ones you find in small towns
Agreed. The original one in Baton Rouge on Florida in the 60's & 70's was great.
But the burgers were fresh beef and hand formed patties. Not the generic chain crap of today.
Not to mention the juke box and pin-ball machines.

Frost Top, which I don't know why they failed to follow the customers when they shifted to the burbs. It is not im any manner grand cuisine, but is a fashion comfort food to the older crowd, and they would hve brought thier grands for a bit of nostalgia.

Dairy Queen is nothing special at all...Besides his gumbo, what else is good at Uncle O's?
Wasn't Uncle O/Ouncy(sp) the big dog at Fairway View back in the day? I do know that he hit a decent size jackpot not long after the La Lottery 1st started.

Ouncy bartended at Fairway View for a long time then bought it and owned it for a very long time. He then had Uncle O's on Harrell's Ferry, sold that, moved across the street to the car lot, sold gumbo, catered then set up a small operation inside and now is moving into the old Brewbachers on Sherwood. I haven't talked to him in a couple years really just because it was a pain in the arse to go into the car lot. Glad to see him coming back and I'll see him soon as he opens.

I loved Dairy Queens over four decades ago when I was a kid. I'd get the foot long hot dog, followed by a vanilla ice milk cone dipped into that red shell coating. Their biggest competition in the North when traveling was Dog n Suds which was sort of like a cross between A&W and DQ. The truckers used to call them "Arf n Barf"
Even though I liked it as a kid, my total visits to this DQ will likely be zero.
