My mom had a simple solution to us not being willing to eat what was on the menu. She would tell you to make a jam sandwich, simple recipe of two slices of bread together and a glass of water or milk to go with it.

When a child won't try something new it bothers me because the child hasn't experienced enough foods to know what he'll like.
By the time you're 40 you've had enough experience to predict whether you will like something new or not.
However, my wife constantly proves me right and herself wrong. I'll make something new. She won't try it.
Me: "Honey, I know what kind of ingredients you like. You will like this new dish."
Her: "Nope. I don't want it."
The next day...
Her: "You need to make some more of that new dish. I tried it and it's great."

I can get a little pissy about it. Depends on who it is and the circumstances.

It doesn't piss me off if they are closed minded to "different" foods, but it's annoying when they are so closed minded that they say that they don't eat vegetables or fruits. Can you really dislike every vegetable or fruit? That makes no sense to me.

My best friend won't try anything.
Burgers, steak, pizza or fried catfish. He won't get anything else. Ever.
Tricked him into eating fried calamari by telling him it was catfish strips.

Yes, especially when they say they dont like something and I call them out for never actually trying it.

This reminds me of people who go to places with great restaurants and eat at Outback. I just don't get it.
I took the girl I was speaking of in my previous post to Vegas in 2005. Only place she would eat that wasn't a buffet was Outback.

I put money on changing your minds on at least one, and probably two of them.
