It just changed in the last few months, so unsure if he means the new ownership (who seems to be doing well) or something else.

I always recommend Maison Lacour.
Me too.
Always great food and service and a relaxing environment.

No way is it Rusty. He ain’t getting up once he sits down. It’s got to be that other guy that’s looks like an 80s lounge singer.

That place is legit.
Fresh. And the rolls are friggin massive for a decent price.
Oh and the bathrooms may be a little off since it's the old cadillac Cafe.

Ochi Sushi on Bluebonnet and was impressed with the incredibly fresh fish served
Haven't tried it yet, but saw more downvotes than upvotes. I hope it's better than Ichiban, where there's more mayonnaise on a sushi roll than fish by weight.

I never hear people talk about City Cafe and I think it’s pretty strong. We live in Mid City, but about once a year or so we make a trip to eat out there. (I like it more than Willie’s)

We live in the general area and eat there quite often. I agree that it's a very solid place.

We've been waiting for them to get their liquor license; I noticed the orange sign has disappeared from the door. So maybe it's time to give them a shot.
Most of the restaurants mentioned so far are in our regular rotation: Blue Corn, Maison Lacour, Zorba's, Solera, City Cafe and we've been to La Contea & Brasa Peru. Another I would suggest is Bistro Italia. Good basic Italian dishes and good pizza.

We’ve only been to Nino’s once since ownership changed. It was different, but I’m not ready to say it’s better or worse yet. Just different.
I’ve always said Nino’s has the best Italian even though I know people on here love Gino’s. But Bistro Italia is right up there for Italian food IMO. It’s obviously more casual, but really good.

I don’t know what nights it is now, but it used to be 3 nights a week.
It’s the man on a cordless mic in front of the whole restaurant singing Sinatra and whatnot, weaving in the tables, singing to patrons, taking requests, walking into even the bar to sing to bar patrons, etc.
It’s awkward and makes the entire meal about his performance instead of whatever you originally went there for.
Went there 2 weeks ago on a Friday night. He's still there, but was stationary for the most part, which made it a lot less awkward. Not gonna lie, I enjoy the music itself, but previously was afraid to make eye contact with him lest he come sing to our table. It's much more enjoyable now.
