that isn’t awful? I have a vegetarian relative coming into town next week and since it’s gumbo weather, I was mulling over the idea. And no, I don’t mean like gumbo z’herbs; I mean a gumbo with no meat at all, including fish. Guess I could just go the fake meat/sausage route, but I don’t have any experience with that stuff to know what brands or products, if any, are useable for something like this.

I know that the very notion is an abomination and all, but I like to share our state’s food culture with outsiders so I figured it might be fun, if at all possible. TIA, hope I didn’t trigger anyone.

No bruh.

People like that suck.

You shouldn’t have to adapt your life to their sucky life choices.

They can either eat the food you serve or they can starve

Step 1: Use real meat.
Step 2: Tell them it's fake meat.
Step 3: ????
Step 4: Profit.

Everyone wins. They get to feel like they saved a pig's life. You get to know you weren't a part of causing meatless gumbo to exist.

Some dishes are not suppose to be meatless and gumbo is one of them. I can’t imagine making a whole pot of veggie gumbo. I’d be pissed.

Tofurky brand makes a decent veggie andouille I put in my jambalya and would work in gumbo. I get it at wholefoods. Use a veggie stock of some type....make your own with the trinity leftovers is easy.....maybe throw an extra bell and half onion in there. Saute okra and throw in the gumbo too.

There is no such thing as vegetarian gumbo and anyone who says otherwise is a liar.

Just make a vegetable stew.

Need meat to make it gumbo.

You might get some good flavors by cooking veggies and okra down in a roux but without the meat is isn’t gumbo.

That’s like making “vegan bacon”. Some things just should not be.

Your gay arse relative can just fix their bowl without meat. It’s still tasty without meat? Idk
