You mentioned Plano and Frisco so I thought I'd respond. Snow Cone Lady does a big business in Frisco. Located about two blocks south of Main St near the railroad tracks. It isn't mobile, just a shack. I haven't been there in probably 2 years so I don't remember if they were better than average. I just thought you may want to stop by and check out some of the competition's product.

Best of luck to you.

Imperial Woodpecker? Even if not, it's my favorite in New Orleans. She has soft serve new this summer. ?

Yep that's her. I used to go to her place in NYC when she was open. I actually went to grammar school with her mother.
I've been to her shop in New Orleans

To be honest I believe it is just how finely chopped the ice it. It turns into mushy ice, not the crunchy you find at most other "Snow Cone" places. I could be wrong. I do know that I have never found another snowball stand like the ones I grew up on in Nola.

So the only difference is the size of the ice shavings?

Size of the ice shavings. Some have said how the ice is made. But it also is hugely based on the amount of syrup. Also it is actually good syrup.

Update: I have a call scheduled today with my dad's friend who has made a living off of snowball stands on the Westbank. He has had multiple locations so he has tons of experience. I'm hoping to get better insight on this whole idea and if it is worth it. He's the guy that owns all of the Van's Snowballs in Algiers and TerryTown

I have seen a couple of places in Dallas .. some have closed. Check out the PERMITS and REGULATIONS .. I find the Dallas area very anti entrepreneurship specially in the northern suburbs. I have been here since 1980

I looked into permits a little bit. I wouldn't think it would be much different than a food truck. I'll definitely dive into all of that

Mary’s on barataria

NM. I see that it was.
Awesome
I’ll argue that a New Orleans style will have nectar and spearmint as Syrup options and condensed milk as a topping. As well as the finely shaved, not crunchy ice.

Super upset when I go to a “sno-ball stand” and these options aren’t available.
