I just got back from Disney with the kids and the amount of fatties gnawing on turkey legs was crazy.

What is your opinion on this and are you one of them?

ETA: The fatties on the scooter that ride around and eat turkey legs are the worst

My opinion is these people are the reason why I have no desire to go to Disney

I like turkey. I don't get the love for walking around eating a giant leg between rides

I was amazed at the fatty scooter industry down there

It's symptomatic of the bigger dynamic of the things we do on vacation that we don't do anywhere else.

"We" buy t-shirts, monkey heads carved out of a coconut, shells, "art" and the like. Stuff we'd never buy at home.

I could see how some fatties spend a whole day in the park and only get on two rides. It was disgusting.

Honestly, I have to look the other way when it comes to gross US eating habits. No buffets, either.

I'm not a fan of lots of habits, but we sure have some sensitive people on this board.

If all they ate was turkey legs, they may not be so fat.

Guilty as charged. Snobs gonna snob. Had to give up my Sam's membership because the herds of multigenerational obese sheeple families buying industrial sized piles of unhealthy, untasty, processed crap.

hell, I'll go to town on a good smoked turkey leg for lunch if in a pinch on the road.

It was a corndog affair for us the last time we were at disney and we don't normally eat the dogs at home.

I have 4 kids, so I somewhat immune to most food grossness.

Fatties in scooters in the grocery store don't gross me out, but I do look on them with disdain. I'm not proud of it though and I'm working on not being a snob.

I don't really care that much about what other people do. This country has a long history of poor nutritional education. Maybe instead of crying every time you see a fat person you should offer your services to help them lose weight (be a personal trainer).. you know, since you're so passionate about other people's lifestyle.

Umm ... you're the one who took a trip and spent big $$$ to be there with them.

Or were you under the impression that Disney World is attended by stylish people with exquisite taste?

Disney actually has some really good restaurants, I don't know why people there insist on chowing down on all the shite in the parks.

Indeed. I directly support several nutritional education initiatives, as I see obesity as a giagantic (pardon the pun) drain on the country, through increased yet completely avoidable healthcare expenses, shortened lifespan, etc. Not to mention the national security issues: talked to a military recruiter lately? It's getting harder and harder to find interested 17 year olds who can actually meet the physical fitness standards. Those guys are seeing kids who can't run a mile, and who don't even see active physical activity as an accessible goal.

This program--[link=(Cooking Matters)]https://cookingmatters.org/course-partners[/link]--aims to teach SNAP/TANF (foodstamp) recipients how to budget their food dollars, to improve their nutritional knowledge, and to reintroduce cooking skills that have been lost in the era of highly processed cheap & fast foods. They're always looking for volunteer instructors and sponsors, if you're interested.
