I live in old met but my family is coming to town for the weekend. Can the board give me some ideas of good restaurants outside of the quarter since FQF is going on?

Price, cuisine, number of peeps? Assuming Saturday night, Sunday could change things.

Kenner Seafood
Rocky and Carlo
Boucherie
Brigtsens

Am I the only one who doesn’t like R&O? Roast beef has artificial flavor and fried seafood is usually overdone and cooked in way overused oil. Pizza sucks too.

If you want new think about Bordeaux on Magazine for brunch I think it would suffice. Can't really comment other than weather seems like it will clear up by that morning and it is a great setting. Food will probably be just above average for brunch. Backup is try to get a res at Atchafalya on short notice.

I always liked High Hat for a dinner because the menu is pretty big, informal, and everything is done up right. Parking is pretty simple too. I can bring foodies or critics and they seem to appreciate it.

One of the food halls might not be a bad plan either, but their vendors aren't as strong as they have been in the past.

Red's Chinese is a cool unique place.

Red Dog Diner for breakfast, although they are starting to have a waiting list for breakfast. Still good food though.

Toups, midcity or south. South has a great kitchen bar that can be interactive and if your group gets the corner makes it just as good as a table for conversation.

Will spare the usual suspects of recs since everyone will contribute here too.

I prefer South over Meatery only for the space in this situation.

OC Haley. Don't worry, there is close parking and safe enough.

If I had enough dedication I would create a flow chart for these posts.

Maypop is my favorite new restaurant. Just don’t want to go near the quarter this weekend

See if you can lock up some spots at Gris Gris.

Downstairs kitchen bar is ringside. Really good things happening there.
