I like the pre-opening ADRs, gives you a nice experience inside the park with hardly anyone else in there.
I just feel that if I wake my daughter up at 6:15 am, I'd rather it be for her (and our) favorite rides rather than scrambled eggs. I can just as easily grag a banana and a clif bar out the door, eat a cinnamon roll when we get there and I'm good for a few hours. It isn't like we won't sit down and meet the characters because we will but once you pass on rope drop crowds, you don't have another chance to get them.
Our schedule usually involves rope drops, then we leave about lunch and head to another park that afternoon/evening.

T-Rex Cafe is good too, created and run by the same people that do Rainforest.
The Landry's group...they also do Yak & Yeti and take Landry's gift cards. If you hunt on restauraunt.com from time to time you can find GCs at a discount and use them IN a Animal Kingdom.

Basically an extension of Pop Century (which was my favorite value resort) with some slight changes/upgrades to the rooms. As far as values go, you can't do any better than AoA and Pop

I actually have reservations booked in Port Orleans. But now I'm considering flying, and plane tickets are $800 cheaper if we fly earlier. But Port Orleans isnt available if we switch, AoA is. And its cheaper too.
It would be about $1K swing. Thats worth considering.

Oh sorry got distracted meant to add to..
But, I thought it was really nice for being a value resort.
Stayed in the Lion King suite and for the money and if you dont mind the over disneyed decor then its a great place to stay with kids
Bonus the suites have 2 bathrooms

we were barely in our room so it wasn't worth the upgrade to Coronado. when we go back, we might just do the value resorts.

if you mind overly Disney decor, you shouldn't be in Disney world

Value resorts suck... Not the places themselves... The people there... They have no concept of personal space... At the counter service places, trying to get coffee, they'll pull up next to you , basically rubbing elbows to get their coffee... Aggravated the shite out of me... But it was a bunch of people from the NE, during Sandy... could've been the reason..

Well considering this past May I stayed at the Grand Floridian and while the decor is there ...It's Waaay more subtle

come on you can't compare the GF to a value resort
GF is geared more towards adults so obviously it won't look the same.

For the amount of money that would save you, I wouldn't hesitate switching if you're OK with moving your trip dates around to save the $$. I haven't stayed at AoA but have walked the grounds there extensively. Great places to take the kids. The outdoor themeing all around the resort is perfect for the little ones. The pool looks very nice and the playgrounds are pretty nifty, IMO. We love Port Orleans French Quarter and will probably stay there when we go in January because AoA is sold out of the Little Mermaid rooms and we just don't need a family suite.

Is cinderella's table the same as going to the caste and all the princesses coming to your table?
We went to Disney a couple years ago and my mom planned that for my little sister. I threw a fit and got to go. Totally worth it. Had my picture taken with every princess. one of the most magical moments of my life

Yes. The restaurant's name is Cinderella's Royal Table.

For the money, you'll get better return for your money on lunches and dinners and if you do wake up early, be one of the first people in the parks. Some people are big advocates on the pre-opening 8 am ADRs and as long as you eat fast it can work but still taking some chances.
I usually advise sitting for the character meal during lunch or early evening when you're ready for a break and to get off your feet and either sleep in and relax in the morning or hit the parks like you're on a mission.
That is normally what we do. We are at the park for rope drop and hit it hard when it's least crowded and use our table service for pretty much solely character dining for dinner or very late lunch (i.e. 3pm)
