shite man, there are crowds at Ryan's and Pancho's as well. I will agree that a breakfast focused place is doomed to failure. While I am told they have a decent burger, nobody really says lets go to ABE for lunch.

You know that is a silly thing to ask. I just know that everytime there is a ABE thread, you will be in it. It was especially true during the hours of operations fierce debates(LOL) and the thoughts about one of the places closing.

so I adamantly debate one topic about a restaurant 3 years ago and you now equate this to every post I make on the f & d board .. that makes sense .. great point !! you got me there ..
and how is it a silly thing to ask someone to support a silly thing they assert exactly ?

why is completely changing your name and concept from a long established name and concept that appears to be working considered "improving" your business in your mind

The point was that anytime there is a ABE thread, you are in it. And now you are here accusing someone else of "caring" too much about ABE.
Go head with your deep and thoughtful debates about why a business changed names and I will bow out.
It was dumb of me to post in this thread. I appologize.

yep ... and this prolly plays into the name change .. he left some people that co signed and guaranteed that lease holding the bag too .. they have also initiated legal action .. that one won't go away either ..
Posted on 8/22/10 at 10:25 am to OTIS2
so you are basically saying the business is in trouble ?
Posted on 8/22/10 at 10:26 am to notiger1997
you're better than this, notiger ..
Posted on 8/22/10 at 10:28 am to TigahRag
No.I don't know the books any better than you. But common sense dictates that changes are made to improve a business model, not stagnate it or reduce it's productivity.

Looking at my 2009 and 2010 numbers YTD, It couldn't hurt, if I changed my frickin name!

I never really liked their overpriced and overrated breakfasts anyway.
I've only ever been to the closed down G O'Neal location of ABE, and I never really thought that the breakfasts were all that great either. I did understand the pricing though, it helped keep trash from dining there. The food was good enough, and I liked having a nice place like ABE close to me, so I'd go there quite a bit...The owner/Dixie came over and introduced himself to me and my girlfriend once. Seemed like and probably is a nice guy.
I remember going to ABE's for a Mothers Day lunch once. It was hot outside and the AC could not keep up inside. It was miserable inside...I asked if the AC was broke, and was told it wasn't..Same thing happened at a wedding reception I went to at CCLA once. This is south Louisiana, if you don't have an AC that can keep your customers & guests comfortable, than that's just bullshite.

why are you laughing at the guy ? I don't think he was making a joke ..

so Dixie IS affiliated with ABE ?? ahhh ..
an A/C running at full efficiency can only keep the interior temp 20 degrees cooler than the outside air temp .. you need a ton of unit per 400sf .. when they expanded into the space next to them I don't think there was enough A/C to accommodate the footage .. that's on the landlord .. not ABE ..

yeah i understand that, but wasn't rent pretty sizable at that location? i would've made damn sure if was the ABE owner that the AC could accommodate a full house.
ETA: did i get this thread anchored by stating the obvious?
