Canned sardines have come a looooonnnngggg way.

They have been pretty damn good since 1902. I've been eating them since the mid 60's and they are phenomenal.

Now if you want something really good ask your fish monger at Whole Foods to get you some fresh, they will come in on Thursday, brush with olive oil a bit of sea salt and roast on your grill. Good stuff.

Came across this recipe on facebook and tried it this week. It's the best new way I've cooked chicken in a while. Slice the lemons thinly and de-seed.. The taste is great and it'll make a nice sauce to accompany whole wheat pasta.

It comes from a nice food blog you might also enjoy.

It seems like anything that is that good is also bad for you.

I disagree, but let's individualize this. What tastes good to me may not taste good to you (take this idea over to the Music Board and you can have a silly debate). If you're used to eating a lot of foods high in sugar, processed foods, etc., then you probably have a very different idea of what tastes good than I do. I really don't like a lot of that stuff. I mean, there are some unhealthy foods that I like, but for the most part, I really enjoy eating healthy food.

For example, chocolate -- this can be a health food in moderation if it's not loaded with sugar. I like eating dark chocolate and adding cacao powder to shakes and different foods. I don't think most sugary chocolate candies taste good. (There are some exceptions, but for the most part, I think the massive amounts of sugar taste disgusting. It's just too rich for my taste.) Same thing with soda pop. I don't want it. There are lots of other drinks (tea with lemon, goji juice, coconut water after a workout, etc.) that I think taste better and make me feel better.

A lot of it is about getting creative with foods, and combining different ingredients that you like. For me, I can come up with countless combinations of salads that taste great. Same thing with shakes (protein, fruit, vegetable, etc.).

I like to eat eggs (with the yolk!) and oatmeal for breakfast in the morning, and I think that tastes very good. If you think oatmeal is bland, you can do different things to add some flavor. Sometimes I'll add coconut oil and a scoop of cacao powder to make a healthy chocolate oatmeal. You can also add things like almond butter, cinnamon, fresh fruit, goji powder, raw honey, etc. Some days, I just like to drink a fruit (I like to mix it up with different fruits and try different combinations) smoothie in the morning, and I'll often add a scoop of protein powder. I think fruit smoothies are delicious.

If you eat meat, my goodness, there are so many different meats that taste great, and there are lots of health benefits (depending on how it's prepared, and if/which sauces are used) as long as you're eating a balanced diet.

Do you take probiotics? I think kombucha tastes great. Earlier today, for a snack, I had GT's MULTI-GREEN and a Lamb Bar from EPIC.

Avocados, sweet potatoes with grass-fed butter and cinnamon, rice and beans, pumpkin seeds, cashews (cashew butter), on and on.

Two of my favorite dinners to make are burritos and stir fries because you can add so many different healthy ingredients that taste great.

Lots of fruits would be on my list. I'd rather have fruit than a candy bar most of the time.

Strawberries
Blackberries
Mangoes
Bananas, especially frozen.
Honeycrisp, SweeTango, and Ambrosia apples
Pineapple
Peaches
Pears
Cherries
Watermelon

The list goes on and on...

And yes, avocados are delicious. I eat them at least 3 times a week. And call me crazy, but I could eat oatmeal every day.

• grass-fed steak
• milk, butter and cream from pastured cows
• pasture-raised chicken
• wild-caught fish
• vegetables grown from heirloom seeds without poisons or unnatural soil amendments

Any animal or plant that is allowed to grow as nature intended will be delicious and healthy.

DELICIOUS! And somewhat healthy. Pork Belly (okay, that part might not be so healthy) and Crawfish Fried Rice from Dark Roux in Lafayette today. Best thing I've tasted in a while.

My egg was slightly overcooked. My husband's was not, and he got the runny yolk goodness.

I like making smoothies. Bunch of kale, one banana, three strawberries, 1/2 cup of skim milk. It's delicious.
