Anything between two pieces of bread is a sandwich.

I guess the question then becomes "is a hotdog bun two pieces of bread or one?"

Definition of sandwich
1 a : two or more slices of bread or a split roll having a filling in between
b : one slice of bread covered with food
2 : something resembling a sandwich; especially : composite structural material consisting of layers often of high-strength facings bonded to a low strength central core

SO , yes.

Whether the hot dog is a sandwich has become a matter of heated debate. A PR representative from the company Oscar Meyer told Food & Wine magazine this June that he is in the yes-it's-a-sandwich camp. The National Hot Dog and Sausage Council lands on the opposing side, writing on its website that its "official policy" is that the handheld food product is a "hot dog formerly known as a sandwich."

A poboy is a sandwich and the 1 piece of bread rule is ok there.

I'll allow it.
