Wife and i want a last minute date night. I need some suggestions. Something different than the typical:

Ruffino's
Ruth's
Charley G's

Any suggestions?

I have heard good things about that place but I can't wrap my head around the menu.

Share a couple items from the small plates portion of the menu, and a couple from the traditional portion of the menu.

The bacon wrapped dates, duck fat fries, hanger steak, and pork belly are all really good.

They do have really good drinks there, too.

Have not been to Blue Dog Cafe in years, but it was always really solid.

Good choice. How was it and what did you get?

It was good. We got the following:

Morcilla- quail egg on top of black boudin.
Duck confit flatbread
Half hanger
Castilian mushrooms
Catalan spinach
Truffles
And drinks

Overall it was a good meal. I felt a lot of the dishes could have used more salt, but that was just me. I was expecting bolder flavors coming from a Spanish inspired menu. I will more than likely return.
