Dammit! Sunny's Korean BBQ is closing in Lafayette

It saddens me to see an authentic and unique restaurant close. I was driving by Sunny's today and noticed an "available" sign on the front lawn, so I decided to investigate. Apparently they've been losing money with slow business and have decided to throw in the towel after this Sunday. I asked if they were moving or simply done and they said they weren't sure yet, but that they knew they couldn't continue from a business standpoint at the current location, which seems like a doomed location (previously the short lived ACME Taco...not sure what was before that).
I've eaten there a half a dozen times, and was my first experience with soju. The little guys are taking a hit in Laffy. Sunny' and Zen Noodle and Grill are gone, and S&P Grocery is said to be closing shop after their lease runs out, all seemingly in favor of the Costco development, as people flock to the corporate stuff they're familiar with...Panda Express and all of the other national chains. Such a shame.
Sunny's will be open through this Sunday. You may see me there at some point this weekend.
RIP

That location is terrible and too big for a Korean restaurant. Same with Zen, horrible location, and tried to compete w/ a flooded market that Blu Basil/Saigon Noodles owned. Tao, in the Costco shopping center, is WAY overpriced and nothing stands out. I've been there 3 times and have never had anything that would make me want to go back. I only returned b/c friends wanted to dine there. It is in a typical 'place to be area'.
Panda Express, well it's not any better than the old take out 'Chinese' on Guilbeau Road, Dynasty.

Sad. I enjoyed it the few times I went, although I didn't wind up going there as often as I expected. I guess I was part of the problem.
Somehow the Costco development area supports like 6 different hamburger fast casual concepts.

I just saw that Cheddars in Lafayette closed this month. Interesting.

That location is terrible to get in/out of, I don't really thing it matters what gets put there, it just won't work.
I was always a huge fan of Acme Taco and is probably the only restaurant to close in the last few years that I wished would come back. They always sucked arse at picking locations, not sure if that was poor management or just what they could afford. I10/University is the ghetto/a dump, they then opened a burger joint(Acme Burger) near LGMC, then closed Burger, and moved Taco near LGMC, then closed that and opened at Ambassador/Johnston as Acme Taco & Burger, then closed the whole show probably less than 12 months later.
Take Acme Taco and put it in a now thriving/up & coming downtown Lafayette and they'd have a ton more success.

This, I never heard of this place but I hate going to anything in that area.

I saw that too. Never eaten there due to too many other dining options, and terrible location, as has been said.
It started out as Sonny’s BBQ (a chain), then Shanghai Moon (upscale Chinese), then Acme Taco.

Just like the idiots who opened the wing place on Amb Caff near Rooms To Go. Damn near impossible to get in & out of there.

You mean south? When I think East Lafayette I think Evangeline Thruway
