Some friends in Frisco are hosting a weekend get together with a few families and would like me to bring my gear and do a crawfish boil.

Can you recommend some places around Plano, better yet, Frisco (really even north of that) that you like to buy your live crawfish?

I've done the HEB thing before and had a 5/10 experience; much prefer a seafood or meat shop that does a lot of volume.

Plenty of places in Houston like this so I'm assuming Dallas would have the same.

Thanks!

Dallas is not Houston. Not as many coonasses up here....probably more people from Illinois than La. Fiesta is an option.I get my shrimp there and they have whole redfish for a lot less than other places. In Dallas there are 3 or 4 specialty places (TJ's, Rex's, Lovers Lane Seafood) but I have no idea about the burbs.

Always have bad luck with them. A lot of dead ones, dirty sacks, and small size.

Cajun crawfish co in Lewisville is my go-to. Their facebook as regular updates on size and price.

Thanks, guys. If anyone's got ideas more out the outskirts closer to Plano/Frisco that would help. Either way, I'll try something mentioned here. Thx

Fiesta is the best bang for your buck. I usually get them about 1.50/lb cheaper than anywhere else. They usually are a bit dirtier than Kroger but when I can get 3 sacks for the price of 2, then ill do a bit more work. The only place you’ll get anything nice size is a specialty place like Cajun crawfish or bayou market in Lewisville.

Never bought live from Nate's but their food is horrendous and they boil like shite so I won't give them a penny.

We get our live crawfish from either Bayou Market - Lewisville, Captn Dave’s - Plano or Cajun Crawfish- Lewisville. $3.25 a pound at Cajun Crawfish for this weekend. We live North of Frisco. The Crawfish App works pretty well.

I haven't bought from Dave yet this year but the crawfish app shows $3.50 a pound. His website hasn't been updated in a bit though. He usually does weekly updates.

He's usually got graded so they're good size. He also has a lot of good seafood there. My in laws moved here from new Orleans in the 90s and he has trusted Dave for years.

Follow up report.

We ended up picking up from Nate’s after all, can confirm good experience. Owner out there met me and showed me into the fridge and explained where each delivery of crawfish came from. Long story short there were almost no dead ones and they were a great fresh batch from good supplier.
