Going to Dallas next weekend and need recs:
Tex-Mex
Bar/Restaurant near Toyota Stadium (FC Dallas Soccer)
Outdoor bars
Bars/restaurants with a view
Good beer bars.
Even though this is an F&D post if you have other D-FW ideas I'd be interested.
We will likely go to the FC-Red Bulls game.
Maybe the Rangers.
Place to rent boats?
Best lake in area to hang out?

I have the thread for suggestions for restaurants for a gift card from around Christmas, so this is a bit different direction.

Coppell/Lewisville with my daughter and husband.
We are certainly willing to go anywhere, but places local to that area would be appreciated.

I wouldn't walk across the street to eat Abuelo's if they were giving away food, but I offer no solutions either. I am part of the problem!

We have Uncle Julio's in ATL so not as appealing.
Javier's is definitely upscale. When 1/3 of the menu says market price you know you are spending $$$.
Cigar lounge is appealing. Son and Son-in-law would love it. Daughter not so much.

Around the Pizza Hut Park area, there's a Blue Goose Cantina, and Londoner Pub. Honestly, if you're over that way for a game I'd suggest heading south down to the Shops of Legacy area in Plano.
Cantina Laredo(Mex), Taco Diner(Mex), Pepper Smash(cocktails), Ginger Man(beer), Henry's Tavern(beer), Mi Cocina(Mex). All within the same shopping center and walking distance.
Also, in Coppell I'll throw out a personal favorite of mine, Coppell Deli. Little hole in the wall place on the south side of Coppell that has amazing burgers. LINK
One more off the beaten path in Lewisville. Tierney's Cafe, decent enough food and great drinks with a fun patio that usually does live music on the weekends.

Lake Lewisville is probably going to be your best bet as far as the most convenient place for a boat rental. Just be warned that parts of the lake can be real crowded on the weekends and Lewisville seems to have a bigger problem with drunk idiots boating than any of the other area lakes IMO.

Lonestar Taps and Caps is in Lewisville and is one of the best selections in DFW

Javiers is overpriced mediocrity.....so dallas people love it.
E-Bar is a solid texmex place that is our goto right now. Mia's can be super crowded and their waiting area is postage stamp size.
BBQ- Pecan Lodge in Deep Ellum is one of the best in the state. Great outdoor area and they serve lunch and dinner Thur-Sat. Then you could walk over to Brain Dead Brewing which has a nice outdoor area. They are a newly opened brew pub and serve other beers too.
Another area with great outdoor seating is the Trinity Grove area just across the new bridge. Several restaurant in there all sharing a covered outdoor area. Luck has a good beer selection. I'm not crazy about any of the food Ive had at any of the places here. But I havent eaten at all of them.
If you come into Dallas for beers, Common Table has a nice outdoor area and great selection. Meddlesome moth has the best beer selection and really good food. Dallas Beer Kitchen on lowest greenville has a small outdoor area but has a big garage door they open so inside feels like outside. they have avg. food but good beer selection. 100 yards from there is Blind Butcher that has good food...house made sausages...decent beer selection and a nice patio in the back. 20 yards from there is Truck Yard that is the popular outdoor bar area in Dallas. But its so crowded nobody goes there anymore. Strangeways is my favorite craft beer place and has an outdoor area w/ picnic tables. But it is too grungy for some people and is in the barrio....although the area is in transition and will be another big restaurant/ bar area in a few years.
Arlington is a shithole so dont spend too much time there.
You can rent Kayaks and Canoes at White Rock lake but you may be looking for something with a motor. I dont know about any of that. Grapevine Lake, Lake Lewisville and Joe Pool Lake are all popular boating/ hangout lakes.

hard 8 is great, they are building a 20,000 sq foot mega one in front of new Nebraska Furniture Mart in The Colony
my favorite Tex Mex joints (in no order) in Dallas proper are
Blue Goose
Mannys Uptown
Mias
La Hacienda Ranch (great steaks too)
Mesa Maya- my favorite right now- downtown next to perot museum. upscale true mexican food with huge lit patio and bar. great place to take a girl
Primos- for the happy hour and women
El Ranchito- Old school oak cliff joint. mariachi band and known for grilled goat fajitas!
for a mini chain- you cant beat uncle julios or pappasitos fajitas
i think Javiers is very good, its overpriced but the scene is great for a date or business meal. they have a cigar bar attached that is very cool

if i were you id check out Babes Chicken House across from stadium in Frisco
its one of my favorite. its a great concept. bascially its all family style one price- $11 and you order either Fried Chicken(been on food network for best in country), Chicken fried steak, smoked chicken, fried catfish or pot roast
everyone picks a main meat, and they bring unlimited
cream corn
green beans
mashed potatoes
salad
homemade biscuits and gravy/honey
shite is awesome! best part is its BYOB so we just bring a cooler and a group of people and drink a 6 pack and eat good ole home cooking. cant beat it.
that area is very nice around the stadium. lots of good choices. mattitos has a good patio too and is good tex mex. skip NOLA grill, overpriced cajun/creole. chef is from NOLA but you pay like $25 for 3 shrimp on top of a scoop of rice
