a buddy of mine is a huge North Dakota St Bison fan and they've played in the FCS championship game the past 4 years at Toyota Stadium. I told him about Babes in year 1 and he then told about 100 fans. I became legendary and now every year Babes is basically north Dakota state headquarters. they swear by it and just bring a shitload of beer.
the toughest decision you will make is which meat to get. I recommend doing what I do, everyone agree to get something different and just pass shite around. I end up with fried chicken, a piece of CFS, roast, catfish. forgetaboutit

lIKE MOST THINGS, i DISAGREE WITH MOST THIS LIST. Mia's is the only one on there I would recommend. Mesa Maya is as average as it gets. Manny's....hahahahaha! Another see n be seen place which you seem to like....guess its good for biz meetings. El Ranchito is cheesy, greasy old school texmex which aint that great. But I guess people eat there for the nostalgia.
I haven't ranted on your rec's in a while so I guess its been building up.

I dont eat there much as they are all in the burbs. I do....or did eat at Mariano's... who owns Hacienda Ranch and is pretty much the same as hacienda. It has really gone down hill the last 2-3 years and they have raised their prices....$16 for cheese enchiladas which is ridiculous. I suspect Mariano is too old to run the places now and whoever has taken over has reduced quality and raised prices to make more $$.

I've been to Mariano's a few times since it's by the ballpark. about a year ago, they redid the menus so now all his restaurants have the exact same menu. they've always had the same drinks and similar menus, but not the exact same menu. I prefer hacienda because of the set up. it's huge and their kitchen does it better than Mariano's.

Maybe....but Mariano used to always be at the original location down here in Lakewood/ Greenville. And when they moved it to Skillman Road he was there every 2 or 3 times we went....which was every couple of weeks. The food was the tops. Maybe he is hanging at the Hacenda now and making it better. I will have to try hacienda....but that would mean a trip to the burbs which would mean a xanax refill.

Haha....Mia's is probably my favourite. Avilas. ...just to shattered my food snob badge, Chuys .....Torchys may be my favorite above Mia's right now. But I also have learned that not all Torchys are good. The one in Casa Linda is horrible....not anything close to the Smu location....and Smu is on par with the Austin torchys.

The masses like Justin Bieber too. Dallas is a mediocre food city. I don't know why we can't get high quality food at decent prices here. I think it's too many people with expense accounts who put more value on trendiness rather than good food.

I love torchys and for a chain chuys does a great job. To each is own just saying we can't all enjoy the finest. I have kids and ain't rich so some good ole school greasy tex mex is fine with me. I don't even mind glorias or el fenix

I'm not talking upscale food. Dallas has that covered. I'm talking really great food at average prices. Dallas really lacks in that respect. I think there is so much money to be made at the upper price range that the regular people get overlooked and disenfranchised. For example, we ate at Small Brew Pub on Jefferson (former sous chef for FT33) about 6 weeks ago. Beer was good and the food was delicious. But it was $18 for a small plate app size mushroom based dish......they have Boudin too. We need a revolution comrade.....or just some good, creative, affordable food.
