Are you there already?

Vietnam downtown is great for fine dining (some of the dishes are Vietnamese inspired but there is a lot of French influence as well)

Katz 21 on the Southside for prime steak. If your'e feeling more casual go into the bar area and you can either order off of the bar menu or the full menu. Usually a lot of good looking women in there as well

Kanto - Philipino BBQ spot. Casual but very good

Pho Saigon - really good Vietnamese spot for a bowl of Pho

Mikoto Ramen - awesome Ramen shop. As good as any you'll find in any big city

B and J's Pizza - Not to be confused with the BJ's Brewery (corporate place, and there is also one in town) has pretty decent pizza, really good wings and a good selection of craft beers

The Post at Lamar Park - Great beer and cocktail selection. More of a gastropub but really enjoyable food. It would probably be the most highly recommended on this list

BKK Thai - great Thai spot with really good cocktails. I like the Manhattans there

Saltwater Grill is a pretty good seafood place but it won't compare to top notch places in Louisiana

Niko's is a pretty popular place, decent but not prime steakhouse. Serving sizes are ridiculously generous, about the same price point as somewhere like Outback but a better place to dine IMO. Usually have pretty good drink specials

Rudy's for BBQ, they have great brisket and sides

Ginger Cafe has good Mediterranean food if that's your thing

Royal India of Corpus on SPID is legit

Hu Dat on Staples is good for Vietnamese/Chinese

Another good seafood spot would be Yardarm. Nice quaint yellow building on Ocean drive with a nice view of the bay

Water Street Oyster Bar downtown has pretty good sushi and an assortment of other good seafood items

I can probably think of a dozen more but all of these places are pretty solid.

To the poster that mentioned it's slim pickings there, I can say that the options have improved drastically just since I've been there (2012)

That may be true for a strictly defined CC area, but would you say it’s better than Cotton’s in Portland right across the bridge?

Good luck. The food scene in CC is seriously lacking. The best was Joe Cotton's BBQ until it burnt down.

I have always enjoyed "The Republic of Texas" located on the top floor of the OMNI hotel in downtown CC.

Steaks are great, but their pork chop is phenomenal.

And probably the best view in the entire city overlooking the bay.

Great bar too.

Yes, much better

And now that Mac's is back open in Gregory that's better than Cotton's as well

Julian's BBQ in Corpus is also good

Sure compared to somewhere like NOLA but it's gotten a lot better

Would think a town on the coast would have good seafood places. Maybe not though

I gave plenty of recommendations in a previous post

Cotton's is overrated. It has a big following because of Texas Tech alum hyping the place up. It's essentially just a corporate BBQ chain.

The Cotton's I was referring to burnt down. I know there are other "cottons" in town and they don't even come close. That's why I originally said, "Cotton's, before it burnt down."

The original was good enough to have a helipad out back for the Houston and Dallas oilmen to come have lunch. I personally saw the Bass brothers and T Boone Pickens fly in for lunch.
