Corn on the cob with Boiled Crawfish

Of course it's very popular to cook the corn in the same pot as the crawfish. It gets that good seasoning all up in it.
However, try cooking it by either steaming it or boiling it. And hit it with some butter and salt. Basically, as you normally would prepare corn on the cob when not boiling crawfish.
When my dad first did this at a crawfish boil, I thought he was making a mistake. I was wrong.
When you boil everything in the crawfish pot, damn near everything taste the same. I mean everything is seasoned with the crawfish boil. The taste buds need a break from that.
And normal, buttered corn on the cob provides that break, that relief so your taste buds can recover.
However, it you have cajun and redneck friends and family who are stuck in their ways, I wouldn't try it. They will likely ridicule you for trying anything different.
If you are too afraid to try it, you can offer both regular and crawfish boiled corn and see what happens. The true morons will still lose their shite probably.

How are you in social settings? I'd imagine not too good. You have the tone of an arrogant a-hole but ironically most of what you espouse makes you sound like a moron.

You can have it spicy anytime too. Is someone stopping you from doing what you what to do? Just wink if yes.

If they lose their shite over corn on the cob, then they are truly morons. And should be kept away from your family.

Corn, mushrooms, artichoke, and onions are all good boiled in the crawfish water.

Melt 2-3 tablespoons butter with good couple dashes of garlic powder in butter. Dip corn and potatoes in it. Thank me later.

I feel like the OP is purposely trying to be the heel of the food board with some of the nonsense he’s posted recently.

What part of Texas do you live in?
Just kidding.
Hmmm. I find the foods still maintain their base taste, but an added taste from the boil. But my crawfish and potatoes and corn don't all taste the saem.

quote:It's not so much this for me, it's that Cajuns tend to overcook corn, preferring their kernels with dimples and a chewy texture. For instance, I'll peek at the corn that Rouses has out with their boiled stuff and just shake my head. I love corn on the cob and I love Cajun seasoning, just not the overcooked corn that comes out of boils. I'll still devour it, but corn shouldn't be this mealy crap...

You're gonna ruffle some feathers by suggesting Cajuns don't know how to cook, but on the corn front, I'm with you brother. Boiling is perhaps my least favorite way to cook corn.

I agree with you. I do throw in corn and sausage most of the time.
But recently I grilled the sausage and wrapped corn in foil and grilled and did salt and butter instead of adding to the boil. Sliced sausage and put in bowls on table, same with corn.
Got a number of people say that they like the change in texture and flavor since the sausage was grilled.
