Wow. Kind of a stunner.

Stoltzfus is saying that he just wants to move on. Apparently he plans on expanding his rotisserie chicken operation

All of his side projects and other places never seemed to work out.

Someone can do something great with that spot and location

It will probably be some garbage won't it, that lasts 6 months

Hopefully one of the better chefs in the city gets ahold of it

Im disheartened by some of the recent trends on Magazine (not just restaurant related) so hopefully I am proven wrong.

Too bad Justin Devillier seems just went all in on the old Upperline.

Maybe Eric Cook is looking for something different now that he divestdd from St John.

I have a hard time believing that the rotisserie place is profitable. It’s a fire sale on Uber Eats. Good stuff but not a good location for that concept.

To say the least, terrible location. I have never heard of anyone eating there, but it does actually get very good reviews.

He has had a ton of side projects and other restaurants that have never worked out.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ruby Slipper just takes over the whole building

I thought I had read he was leaving St John to the other owners but now I can't find an article on it.

I probably confused something in my head.

I’ve eaten there, it’s excellent. The location is what holds it back. I think if he were to open locations in Old Metairie, Lakeview, and Uptown closer to Audubon it would crush. Small footprint, low cost food with little waste, no need for wait staff, and something families can stop and grab on the way home from work and won’t feel like a glutton eating. I think it’s got promise, but has to be done right.

Sounds like that is maybe what he is doing, something to that effect

I’d welcome it in Lakeview for sure. On a night where we don’t feel like cooking, it would be amazing to have a spot we can grab a whole chicken and a couple sides and have dinner handled for us and the kids.

It would kill it in Lakeview.

It is really good food, the sides are amazing. I don’t think buried away in the LGD is the right spot.

Boil and Barrell closed already after 9 months and a Byblos is already announced to go in that location. Nothing ever survives in that spot.

Don't know where they would put a location but yeah it would likely do well in Lakeview

It’s troubling when restaurants of Coquette’s calibre begin to close.

Boil and Barrel was a disaster from the start. Ate there once, service was so bad. Over an hour to get waters on the table and we had to get our own drinks from the bar, food was mediocre. I’m sure you read the article, but it’s the same group just pivoting from that dumpster fire to Byblos. I’m very happy to have Byblos in the neighborhood. Another thing we sorely needed and will frequent. Safta’s Table is good, but further away and very different menu/style.

Sounds like he wants to close it because he isn't enjoying the restaurant any longer not due to profitability.

I guess he could sell it but maybe he just wants to end on his terms and do something different.

That's what he is saying, but he is also closing at the exact time other restaurants close that know they can't survive the summer

NOLA is doing extremely poorly all over, but restaurants are just dying here

I have a close family member that is a very high end up and coming chef in Chicago. He would love to open his own restaurant in NOLA but says its well known in the industry that its just a really bad market here right now
