Cooking sous vide on an induction cooktop

I'm getting a GE slide in range with an induction cooktop and they claim you can cook sous vide on it. Has anybody tried this?

Is there a heat probe to place in water that measures temps and communicates via BT to the stovetop ? A lot depends on how sensitive are the temperature & heat controls. If they are consistent and do not vary +/- 1 degree from your setting then your GTG. Keep us updated

If you can keep the temperature consistent, then I don't see why not.
Seems like a temp controller that regulates power could do that.

There is, I believe.
ETA - probe is bluetooth and keeps temp within 1 degree of set temp - between 85 and 200 degrees.

Wouldn’t you also need something to circulate the water?

I don't believe so.

I'd think there is enough slight circulation from the water heating and cooling. Should be pretty cool if it works well.

I have never used these newfangled smart appliances. I can control them with my phone (wifi enabled), they synch with eachother (time and range lights and fan turn on automatically, as needed), and other features I'm not aware of.
Just saw I can download the "airfry" feature. Why that isnt sta dard, I don't know. I guess because they want to show you that you can download programmable functionality.

That sounds pretty slick. One day we will be talking about that model that you can download different cooks

My concern would be that, if the item was coming out of the fridge, you would have an envelope of cold water that wouldn’t get overcome for quite a while. Eventually it would get there, but without circulation, I think cook time might be significantly longer.

Id rather have a gas range and just buy a sous vide

I'm buying a house, and gas ain't an option in the neighborhood where I'm moving. This is the oven the builder is putting in the home.

This ain't that far off. My understanding is that you can use the oven app to download recipes and it will automatically turn on the burner or oven to the right temperature and set the timers as you progress through the recipe. At least that's what I think it will do.

Before I bought my machine, I tried sous vide by heating water in my largest cast iron pot. I messed with temps using a candy thermometer. I was able to get really close to recommended temps that way and they held fine. Worked vary well.
