Cooking rice tips

Any tips for cooking long grain rice?
I know this is an amateur level question but when I make long grain rice (Mahatma) it always seems to come out mushy. Why is parboiled rice so much firmer? And what are the pros and cons of each?
This doesn't pertain to jamabalya. I know that would be opening a huge can of worms. Just plain white rice.

Boil water.
Put rice in and cover.
Turn burner to lowest setting. 17 minutes.
Stir rice at 17 minutes.
Turn burner off.
Recover.
Set timer for 5 minutes.
Pretty much perfect everytime.

add water to pot (2 cups water to 1 cup rice)
add a teaspoon of salt per cup of rice
bring water to a boil
stir in rice and bring back to a boil
cover and dial the temp back on the stove as far as it will go and set timer for 20 minutes
pull pot off of heat and uncover
let rest for 2-3 minutes then fluff with a fork
season to taste then serve

I toast a cup of Jasmine in about a tablespoon of butter until most are bright white. Add 2 cups of water, cut to low heat, simmer for 15-20, I do this is a pot with a clear lid so it's more of a judgment thing. When it looks like most of the water is gone, take it off the heat completely and sit for about 5 minutes. Fluff with fork and serve.

I love sticky rice.
1 cup of rice to 1.5 cups of water. Dash of salt. A bay leaf or two.
Put all of it in and bring to a boil over medium high heat until it boils. Stir while getting to a boil. After it boils cut to low and cover for 15. After 15 fluff and eat.

Is there any possible way that it can come out like parboiled rice? Or is that a completely different process?

1: Clean rice.
2: No matter the amount of rice, put one index finger knuckle of water above the rice.
3: One cap full of vinegar.
4: Dash of salt........cook dat!

Stir rice for 30 seconds after it comes to a boil
Nothing sticks after that

No, regular rice will never taste like parboiled. If that’s the texture you want, then buy Uncle Bens.

I use the Justin Wilson method or a rice cooker.

Agree I stir until the rice doesn’t stick to the spoon, usually around that long give or take.
