Quick question...What's the difference between the Dark Roast that is sold in a 1lb vacuum sealed package, and the Dark Roast that comes in the 12oz bag with what looks like some sort of round vent on the front of the bag. It states "Signature Blend Dark Roast" on the bag, but I didn't notice a difference in flavor. Picked up a bag at Winn-Dixie to try because they were on sale for $4.50.

That's what I was thinking. Only thing I could think of was maybe the bag with the vent was supposed to be more like fresh ground maybe? I don't notice a difference so I'll just buy whatever's on sale.

The vacuum sealed packs are degassed before being packed and were phased out everywhere but Louisiana. It was brought back to Louisiana after lots of complaints when they tried to phase it out here. The other pack has a one way value to let it degas from within the bag so it can be packed as soon as it's ground.

Yeah this pissed me off when it happened. Winn Dixie finally started selling Community here in Jax around 2003. Then the 1 lb vacuum packs were discontinued for the 3/4 lb, but the damn price didn't change. Every now and then it's on sale as a bogo. When it is I'll buy like 10 or 12 bags.
