Always listen to Hoffman. Pretty sure I use 60g/liter as a start and adjust from there. I know for my filter coffee I grind right on the border of course/medium using a Capresso Infinity fwiw.

Never near as good as a pour over but works fine for my morning cup.

So I've been using the Profitec Go + 64v2 grinder for a week now and I'm really glad I made this purchase. The machine is well built and easy to use. The steam wand is way more powerful than my Gaggia Evo Pro. Only negative is I have to purge the steam wand at least 3 times to get full steam with no water.

The grinder is great! Easy to zero, pretty quiet imo and makes little to no mess.

I bought new beans from a local roaster that I used for the first time breaking this machine in and they're fantastic. I like dark roast and these are their second darkest roast. It didn't take me long to dial in. Now my wife's decaf is more problematic but that's natural with decaf.

All in all, I would purchase both again in the short timeframe I've had both

So I'm looking at the automatic machines now..raised my budget.

anyone have the dehlonghi dinamica plus? i am not going to defend my reliance on an automatic machine; i'm not currently enough of a espresso connoisseur to fiddle and fuss to make my own.

i started out by testing a couple espressos at a local kitchen store who had the juras set up but at less than half the price, the selection and quality of the dehlonghi not to mention convenience of having it handle all the details make this my current fav.

anyone have any experience with this? so far i'm not seeing anything to dissaude me other than its a little expensive at $1,500ish.

i love you can set 3 separate profiles on it so you can dial in your perfect style and get a consistent pull every time.

I'll tell you right now, I only drink cappuccinos or lattes with my Breville Barista Express. We use the hot water feature to make tea easily instead of microwaving it/doing it over the stovetop. It really all comes down to what you want to drink daily.

If you want every single coffee you can think off, a fully automatic coffee machine would be the way to go. I'm not too keen on many of the brands. I would say if you want espresso-based drinks, go with the espresso machines that do not mess with drip coffee. If you want drip coffee, go all in on a good drip coffee maker that can take care of your beans and milk for you.

I don’t know that machine, but often, if a machine is set up to do everything automatically, it doesn’t do anything really well. But if that one is different, it certainly has a lot of options.

i've read reviews on several retail sites and watched more than 2 hours of randos on YT putting it through its paces and comparing it to other machines.

everyone seems to give it a decent grade for what it does and again, i don't think my palate is sophisticated enough to really bitch about the bar pressure my espresso pack was compressed at.

i am actually hoping to expand my horizons and experiment with some of the various options. also seems pretty neat for having people over to let them brew whatever they want with just the touch of a button.

my favorite part is you can tweak and dial in what you like best and add that to a profile (like netflix) so your drinks will come out the way YOU like them.

That’s a nice feature.

So, the guy who owns/runs Alinea Coffee here in New Orleans just took 3rd overall at the US Roasters Nationals. I’ve swung by Bearcat Baked on Julia a couple times and had Americanos that were really good. Need to get some beans from him.

Anyone looking at the Fellow Aiden drip machine?

It might just be the one that persuades me to up my game. The wife and I both drip due to convenience (and very early/quick wakeup routines). As such, pourovers and such aren't practical for us as first coffee in the morning.

Bringing this thread back from its sleep because the Lelit machines are ON SALE. The Bianca (my movie star girlfriend of an espresso machine) is $600.00 off, putting it priced below anything in its class. The sale is for about two weeks.

I’ve linked to Clive Coffee for the sale, but it’s everywhere, including on the Lelit company site.

We have something similar, Phillips 4300 and love it. I am not fricking around in the morning with manually making an espresso

It’s a gorgeous machine. And with a rotary pump she purrs softly.

I know this is probably too low brow for this thread but can anyone recommend a good k cup? I'm pretty much a one cup person so making a pot is usually a waste for me. When I use grounds I am hooked on J. Gursey that I came across back home but they do not offer a cup

What should I adjust to get a 1:2 ratio that I think I should be getting?

The 30 second recipe is mainly for dark-roast 1:2 extractions. Consider relaxing the time rule and aim for the extraction ratio that gives you the flavor you like. Then adjust from there.

The darker the roast, the less caffeine so I’m a light roast guy.

I have all sorts of fancy coffee makers but I usually end up going to a pour over on ground illi light roast.

Here is my dilemma. My first shot with 18 g coffee grinds takes about 30 seconds with a yield of 36 g. OK, I’m happy until I pull the second shot with everything exactly the same but it runs about 15 seconds to get to 36g no matter what I do. I have to think it is channeling but when I inspect the puck, everything looks perfect. Why does this happen?
