What built up gunk? Is there a scientific site about this gunk? No doc has ever recommended that I cleanse and remove gunk. Why not just take a laxative if you want to empty out?

I find it funny that people feel that they have all of this stuff built up in their intensities, but every colonoscopy that I've seen has pristine pinkish/red colored intestine walls with no buildup of "toxins", as long as they have a decent prep overnight. I'm a believer in science. If you feel constipated, take some mag citrate or golytely and be done with it. As far as weight loss, calories in/calories out.

I find it funny that you assume to know why I want to do it. My reasoning has nothing to do with "stuff built up in my intensities", but more to do with just getting a few months of bad eating out of me and to kind of start over. Don't take things so literally...

Thus is what I don't understand, Rum Tiger. How do you get bad eating out if you? Isn't it already gone?

Is this more a symbolic thing than actually ridding yourself of things you've eaten over a longer period of time? To start new eating habits?

Well by god how deep is your Dr. going ?

Rum I get what you are saying brah. I do a "cleanse" type thing from time to time. Feel like I'm stuck in a rut, not sleeping good, moody, etc. I basically do a modified paleo for 3-5 days. Eat strictly fruit, veggies, fish, chicken. Thats it, no booze. After a day or two I feel energized, in a peachy mood, and sleep like a champ. And I eat as much food as I want as long as its those categories so you don't have to starve yourself. Try it, 3 days aint shite.

Exactly. For me, it would be nice to just clean out the system and eat nothing but some fruits and veggies for a few days, then try to start eating a little better.

You could see if your doctor would prescribe a colonoscopy prep kit for you. It has the ability to start the most interesting night of your life - within twenty or thirty minutes. and a guaranteed cleansing of everything from one end to the other of your pipework.

A whole gallon of salty fruit flavored snot. While I hope to live long enough to require another colonoscopy, I hope like hell the science improves to make that drink palatable.

I would drink some and cry some and drink some and cry some. In the end (ha!) I couldn't finish it all. The next morning, I confessed my sin to the intake person. I was told, "Oh, hardly anybody can finish it." ARGHHHHHHHHHH!

By not eating, you are allowing your body to get rid of the built up gunk. People do it for different reasons but overall your body gets a break.

so starving yourself is healthy? what is this "gunk"?

how delusional are you?

Okay. That makes sense to me. I go on veggie only binges once in awhile. It's more of a craving though when I feel I haven't had enough greens for awhile. It's not a cleansing if the body so much as it is the mind.

Food your body hasn't digested. Our body is also full of toxins that we consume everyday unknowingly.

Don't know what to tell you or the other people in this thread besides research it and try it yourself before knocking it.

Wasn't trying to get into a link war with anyone was just sharing my experience.

Oh and congrats to everyone on their clean colons.

Feel your stomach, you feel that fat? Your body can use that to function. That's still fat that your body can burn. I never said starve yourself. Fueling your body with water and juice efficiently is vital in being successful with a cleanse. In my experience.... What's your experience with your cleanse? Or are you just coming to talk shite.

How uneducated are you?

I got into juicing after watching Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead--a kick arse documentary made by a rich Aussie playboy that let himself balloon to over 3 bills. The movie follows him across the USA as he drinks nothing but juice and meets and influences other disgusting fat fricks on his journey, like this long haul trucker that is well over a whopping 4 hundos. That's 400 ell bees. Whoa. It's a neat set up. He's got a Breville juicer hooked up to a power inverter and makes juices from the trunk of his car. His basic recipe was kale, cucumbers, celery, apples, and lemons. I went to Macy's the next day and bought a Breville on sale. That's right, the Breville. What a kick arse appliance. It sounds like a table saw and destroys whatever veggies you put into it. I follow their recipe and usually add carrots or use different leafy greens. I don't use it as a meal replacement tho, just more of a mid morning or afternoon snack. I tell ya, it makes for a pretty palatable drink and is very energizing. Check out the doc, it's an entertaining movie with some good info about juicing/detoxing. The average humanoid is gross and has shockingly irregular bms.

Oh, I forgot ginger was in the recipe as well. A little goes a long way with ginger.

I have a breville also. It rocks. You're fine on just juice, long term. My doc recommended protein powder with it but I just put lots of brocolli in there.

It's nice not to feel bloated AT ALL. You have more energy, and you absolutely feel better. It's a huge difference IMHO.

Try it rum, you'll love it.

It is a cleanse. You ONLY have healthy food In your body. NO processed food.
Some tips:
You need a base fruit, a juicy one.
You can put anything in there beets, cabbage, brocolli stems, grapes, etc
A green apple, a lemon, or a bunch of grapes will make anything drinkable
Save the pulp and throw it in your garden
Carrots are the most nutritious thing to put in your juicer and one of the cheapest
You can put leafy greens in there

Mom used too cook a mélange of dehydrated fruits mixed together in the winter. The diversity of them played together in your mouth like good friends. Apricots and golden raisins were my favorites in the pot. Pour that concoction over a bowl of oatmeal or grits topped with a bit of butter Mr. Tummy is happy.

Agree with everything GorillaFingers and SirDrinksAlot said. I drank just juice made with a breville for 3 days, but made up my own recipe. Basically just threw any green leafy veggies I could in there. Use a lot of spinach for protein or broccoli as was said above. Celery is very good and has a lot of juice in it too. I found that while I constantly had that feeling of being hungry, i think it was more in my head that I hadn't eaten real food. It was amazing to me to see how food focused our culture is in the south. Everything we do revolves around food, and it was very liberating not having to rely on it for a few days.

I'll probably do another juice fast in the next few weeks, thanks for the inspiration.

I will tell you though. The hamburger I got for my first meal back might have been the best meal of my life haha.

That's just it, there is nothing that has built up and needs to be removed, you are not going to get your intestines cleaner with fruits and veggies. Any value is purely a placebo effect. It's silly (but harmless).

Magnesium Citrate

Had to use that for colonoscopy prep and would never recommend it to anyone unless they were doing that. The sodium content is through the roof.

I always feel better if I switch to mostly fruits and veggies after eating like shite for a few days. And I can really tell when I haven't been drinking as much water as I usually do as well. I don't think it's a placebo effect either. There are foods I eat that I can definitely tell is more bloating/makes me feel more sluggish.

Try to eat more raw stuff, that'll generally "cleanse".
