I feel silly having to ask this question, but here we go. I’ve inherited a magnalite broiler. It has (I’m guessing) oil/fat stains on the outside of it. I’ve never owned a piece of magnalite before. Is there a way to get these off and “re-season” it like you would a piece of cast iron? Thanks in advance.

Without a pic to determine the extent of the stains, typically hot water, steel wool soap pads, & elbow grease is the prescribed method of cleaning brushed aluminum cookware.

Fist soak the pot in the hottest water out of the tap. Use a stainless steel scrubber to remove heavy build up.

Then a steel wool soap pad like brillo or S.O.S. to remove greasy stains. Make sure you soak the pad first to release the detergent. Then soak the item you are cleaning in that water.

Finish up with green scrubbing pad for stubborn bits. Use circular motion so you don't create large rut-like scratches.

Bar Keepers Friend powder is magic on badly stained/gunked up pots and pans.

So it seems like just good old fashioned elbow grease works the best. That’s what I needed to know. Thanks y’all!!

Get a large container, stick the pot in it and fill it with Vinegar. I know the black stains you talkin about and they very hard to remove. It takes days of soaking.

Is the best for most kitchen cleaning. My old stainless double sink looked brand new when I discovered this stuff. Just a long handle, nylon bristle brush and elbow grease and it was awesome. Also great for stainless tumblers like Yeti or Ozark trails that have coffee stains, and the Colsters for cans when they get a ring in the bottom after using them at the beach or pool.
