My mom gave me her 40 year old set and they have water spots and some burnt on grease. Any ideas on how to clean the outside? We used a scotch brite pad and it worked but scratched.

To take care of burned on grease, you're going to have to employ a degreaser of some sort. I also looked up some other tips:

quote:

Use vinegar, lemon or a citrus-based cleaner.

Also: Mix 1/2 teaspoon washing soda (sodium carbonate, soda ash or sal soda), 2 tablespoons white vinegar, 1/4 teaspoon liquid soap and 2 cups hot water.

I use a scotch brite and some comet and just live with the scratches.

Try a Brillo pad, they work pretty well.

Coloradobengal nailed it. I use SOS pads and Ajax. I really need to buy a few more, particularly a roaster if someone has one.
