re: Citrus Fruit Food Challenge - VOTING THREAD

If MDS would have cut up fresh chicken, battered, and fried it, then put his free based orange koolaid on top, I think his entry would be legitimate. He didn’t make anything for the dish. It would be the same if he had just stolen an online image and passed it off as his own. This is just a “fun” cooking competition, and he didn’t “cook” that =nonsensical. Again, just my two cents.

It seems popular enough both in this thread and the submission thread, and I just don't see the harm. If the majority think it is not only acceptable but also worthy of votes, what's the issue?
It's not like there's some limited number of entries or bandwidth that is being wasted here, and you and other that share your opinion can quickly scroll right on past his entry if it offends you so

Agreed Lambda. A handful of idiots are ruining the challenges. They gave Darla hell with the fiesta and she was happy to hand it over when she got busy.
The challenges were a fun part of this board and those of us who take them seriously need to call out those who are ruining it. If you want to have a humorous thread about the challenge, create a new thread and have all the foolish posts you want.
I loved the challenges because I had fun creating odd dishes. Nobody says you can't have fun, but we do expect you to keep the immature foolishness and insults to other posters to the OT.
The rules are simple. If you cannot follow them correctly, don't cry about it.
The person who is taking the time to run the current challenge may use common sense to decide if the dish is nonsensical. Mr. Johnsonville even said in a now deleted post that he posted his crawfish as a joke. He said it and now it's deleted. But, his dish did contain citrus fruit and was a real dish, so I included it, joke or not, it met the criteria.
As far as Mr. Johsonville's short sidekick, he had no citrus fruit in his recipe, plain and simple. "Your dish must contain citrus fruit" is the fundamental rule. Using citric acid and using the word "orange" in your title does not make your dish contain citrus fruit.
If you disagree, then by all means, take a turn at running a challenge yourself. Stop hijacking the challenge threads and making the serious posters want to stop participating.
If you enjoy these challenges, then you need to speak up and urge the idiots to go away and/or start their own thread. I for one enjoy them and I now want to make a lemon custard and lemon pepper wings. For these reasons, I don't want the challenges to go away, but if the real posters don't call out the foolishness, nothing will change.

they aren’t fricking with the challenge they are fricking with you. Perhaps some introspection is warranted

You still think orange isn’t a citrus???

This is me literally cooking my La’Orange. Just because YOU don’t like it doesn’t mean others don’t. The votes don’t lie
