Chow Yum is one of my favorite restaurants around BR, definitely in my top 5 as far as food goes. Their food is really good, with a pretty cool atmosphere. But I just cannot get over the fact that all they play on the bar TVs is anime. Ik they are appealing to a niche crowd, but I feel like at least having sports or something else besides anime on one TV would bring in more types of people.

Their taco Tuesday tacos are incredible tho, highly recommend. Hopefully they start selling their crawfish soon as well

I mean, unless I'm at a sports bar watching sports, I try to avoid watching television when eating out at dinner.

It used to be old martial arts movies. Their menu and food is legit. Seems like you gotta get there early or it's a long wait. It's just Chow Yum now apparently. The Phat owner is out

Their crawfish is meh

Yea, its just Chow Yum now. I'll forever call it chow yum phat tho. I think old martial arts movies would be better than fricking anime lol

I'm a fan of their crawfish.

CYP is how I discovered the cinematic masterpiece that is Opium and the Kung Fu Master! (Not anime)

Was so hooked on it while having dinner that we went home and rented the whole thing. Highly recommend.

When that place is on…it’s 10 out it 10 for me. But man, I’ve had some mediocre meals there too. Seems like they are ALWAYS out of at least a couple menu items too.

Same here. I’m not a massive fan, but have had good meals there. Cocktails are all creative and done well. Food is very meh.

Their crawfish is the worst in town.

Place has the best bread pudding in town. Also that one fried fish curry is insanely good

I've been one time and it was recent.

Ribs (small plate): very good, tender
Smoke House Fried Rice: tasty, good flavor but a little one note

Would go back again. I think best to order several dishes and share each dish with a group, family style.

We ate Chow Yum today at lunch for the 2nd time.

Ratings
Bombay chicken small plate: 8/10
Wild Chow Wings: 6.5/10
Hot Honey Bao: 7/10
Crispy Fish Bao: 6/10

Its a decent lunch spot, but not somewhere I’d rant & rave to friends about. Go try it, but don't expect the world.

Their menu is hit and miss. They have some items that are very good though: the aforementioned fish curry, smokehouse fried rice, mandu dumplings, nuoc cham wings.
