Bun cha gio Hanoi. Vermicelli with ground pork patty Hanoi style. 1st time I've had it. Will definitely try again.

The meat bowl has pork patty, pork belly, pickled carrots, sliced green mangos, chili. It's in a fish sauce and vinegar mix.

You'd just put a little bit of each in a small bowl and eat.

Rice paper salad. 40 cents.

This is the same rice paper used to make spring rolls. They just cut them up in quarter inch strips. Then add shredded mangos, spices, herbs, quail eggs. You eat it out of the bag. Pictures were taken at night so not of high quality.

You can do other things in between meals. My routine were breakfast, coffee shop, lunch, coffee shop, snacks, beach, dinner. Sometimes I would mix it up a bit.

Rambutan. Sweet, a little bit tart. chewy texture of a plum.

Lychee. sweet, tart. Had a vodka after taste.

Custard apple. These look like mini grenades. It tastes like a tree ripened apricot, creamy.

It's not. I think they are renovating it. The infrastructure doesn't allow easy flowing of pedestrians and scooters.

Haha I was being sarcastic. It's bad. Old viet ladies can spot a tourist a mile away, screw any foreigner over, and it's always packed like sardines.

How much is a flight to Vietnam from New Orleans? How many hours of flight time and how many transfers?

Flight price varies by season. Dates in the summer and around Lunar New Year's are going to be the most expensive.

You'll spend at least a full day in the airport getting there depending on the airline you choose.

New Orleans to Houston: 1h 15m, 2h 30m layover
Houston to Narita Int'l: 13h 45m, 2h 40m layover
Narita to Saigon: 6h 25m

The return flight is a 2 hours shorter from Narita to Houston.

How well do the vendors understand the English language? Or is there just a lot of pointing?

I would eat every single thing in this thread -- except maybe the ice cream sandwich.

Some do, most don't. You can see what they're making as you walk by. If you're interested, just pull out your cash in front of the vendor and point at your cash. Vendor will pull out his/her wad and take out the necessary bills and show you how much.
