Alcohol is illegal on all SC beaches, it's state law. Some towns enforce more than others, for $$. It's the one thing I truly dislike about Sullivan's Island. Other than the nazi-ism, it's my favorite island of all islands I have ever been to.

I stayed at the Charleston place , the spectator and planters inn. Planters is my fave. Spectator second and Charleston place is too big.

There others I want to try

Restaurants I been to

Fig
167 raw
Hanks
Halls
Snob
Peninsula
Church and Union
The ordinary

I like them all but my favorites are 167 raw and hanks. Hanks is less touristy. Real straight forward steak and seafood.
I also really liked halls but it’s touristy.

I enjoyed carriage rides. Great history.

Had some good walks into the neighborhoods and ate at some neighborhood spots for lunch.

Drank at some rooftop spots.

Hey dude, I’m finally back in Charleston for a few weeks. Same email you posted before? I’ll shoot you one and try and match up for some beers this upcoming weekend. If the weather holds, I might try and run offshore and we’re down a few guys right now that would normally run out with us.

Skip Rodney Scott’s, it’s highly overrated.

Lewis BBQ is legit, good brisket. They also have daily specials starting at 1100 that are solid, ranging from country fried steak to Dino beef ribs depending on the day.

Bowens Island has great scenery and solid seafood, but it’s not high dining. Most of the complex has caught fire at one time or another, so it’s a patched together dive. The AYCE oysters (only served in the oyster room) are killer, but IMHO they’re much better when the water is colder.

Several good places around Shem Creek, The Wreck is hidden away in the back of a neighborhood but has good fried seafood.

Just be careful trying to drink on Sullivans

yes we heard that as well.
while they don't want you bringing a cooler of beers to the beach, they aren't going to say anything if you have your drink in a yeti mug, at least that's what some of the locals told us when we were there. They did say they might check your ice chest on the beach, but if i had to guess, they are going to stereotype who they are checking.
I doubt they go around checking a family of 5 while mom and dad sit in their chair sipping some tequila through a yeti mug.
have 10 young 20 something year olds and yeah they are going to check them.

We ate a pub, i guess its more of a pub than a restaurant, but it was really good for basically a hamburger/sandwich and fries joint. Good place for lunch.
The beer was really good and their specialty is loaded fries. They have their own collection of loaded fries but you can also create your own. And the Scotch Egg appetizer was great.
The burger i had was a smash burger, and it was great.

It was called Bumpa's

We stayed at The Pinch a few months ago and loved it.

Also 167 Sushi Bar is one of the best meals I have eaten in years. Do not miss it.

Drive to Savannah, you can walk just about anywhere with alcohol. Every bar and restaurant will give you a cup on the way out.

Hey GasMan, definitely shoot me a note! Would love to connect and would definitely love to get out on the water. We’ve got Jason Aldean Friday but then my girlfriend heads out of town for work for a week Saturday morning so I’m pretty wide open.

By far my favorite thing we did during our trip was this tour. The tour and the food were phenomenal.

From today. Brisket actually wasn’t great (today) but still really good. Collards and that green chili sausage were awesome.

Go for drinks, the view, and the scene but if you only have a few days here and want really good food, you shouldn’t waste a dinner there (or instead eat at Tavern and Table or Sunsets and then drink at Saltwater Cowboys).

In addition to Saltwater Cowboy, Laurel is another good spot.
