That was done on purpose. I'm glad you caught it.

I don't get your point. I get that you don't like catfish, which is fine by me. But any other point you are trying to make is lost on me. Most places dress their fish offerings up with more than just "salt and pepper". Catfish is no exception.

Looking over the recipe, I don't see how this dish wouldn't be good. I can understand some people having a "texture" problem with the fish, but that's about it.
I've heard of catfish stew LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG before MD decided to make this thread last night, and I thought it sounded disgusting then too.
Reading a recipe and saying you wouldn't like it as a food-loving adult who can guess an idea of how it would taste is MUCH different than a 5 year old refusing to try a vegetable that they've never had before (I know someone else said that, not you). Like I said, we all do a fairly good job of reading restaurant menus and deciding which items we'd like vs. which ones we wouldn't.
i'm just now getting around on fish in the first place, but flakey fish isn't my thing.. and certainly not in a liquid. And definitely not fried in a liquid. All of it just creates something I do not want to eat or cook.
I don't like catfish with etouffee either before anyone asks.
FWIW, I agree with Heady that if you don't like something, maybe we should just skip over the thread/post and move on. But to accuse people of only saying they'd dislike the dish because MD made it is retarded. As I said, Jesus and Santa could deliver it hand-in-hand on my doorstep.. wouldn't make it more appealing to me.

Or one could complain about multiple threads for every dish and then start one on, say hamburgers almost immediately thereafter. Oh, the irony....
Ya know, I have always liked you as a poster except when you purposely act like a bitch in a passive aggressive way.
ETA: Oh, I forgot!

The point is when using catfish, to make it edible to most, it is fried or covered in sauce. When using most other fish, you don't need to do much to it because it actually tastes good and you want to taste the fish, not the batter or sauce.

I hope you're not talking about me. That was done for a reason, I thought the ridiculousness of the comment would have hinted toward the sarcasm. Cant ever assume people on TD can function mentally.

No, I'm not. And I'm confused. If I've seen catfish stew 10 years ago, it's not considered long before he made this thread?
Ok, a decade ago when I saw catfish stew, which is only a mildly distant time ago because I am so young and cannot possibly be old enough to determine what was long ago to have seen a dish... I decided I would not like fish soup.
Better?

I think what Head is saying is that higher quality fish. something like tuna or salmon, can be eaten in its plainest forms, i.e. - sashimi style, ceviche or in a crudo. I don't know anybody that would eat uncooked catfish.
At least that's kind of what I took from it.
fwiw I have no problem with fried catfish w/ some tartar sauce, hush puppies, bean soup and pickled green tomatoes

Hey buddy, you are the one talking about people's mental state and can't form a proper sentence.

I just don't agree with that. Oh well..

Neither can you. I forgot the "t." I truly apologize. I wasn't attacking your grammar. I was attacking your ability to gather context clues and form a thought, but I see you take everything literally.
Eta: this is stupid. I admit my immaturity, but hey you argued with me.

Yah, we should put wasabi and soy sauce on our catfish. No strong flavors allowed anywhere else.
