Pretty good place. The lunch deals are among the best value I can think of. In addition to the good bean dip/salsa, a few of the specials come with a soup too.

Just went there for fajitas and have to say I was disappointed after everything I read on this board. I don't know if my standards are a bit too high from living in Texas but I would give this place a 6. Carrettes and Superior are way better than this place IMO.

. Best Mexican food in LA for sure.

The fajitas at superior never come with the onions actually cooked and they have almost zero seasoning. With your statement about them being better than Garcia you lost every single shred of credibility.
And it should be know my best friend loves Superior so I have probably eaten the fajitas there about 8 times to 1 for Garcia.
Superior food is bland as hell. I still like them because I love fajitas, but they in no way compare with the well seasoned meat and caramelized onions from Garcia.

Ninfas in BR is so balling. Food is literally out in 3.5 minutes.

It is OK tex-mex and nothing more. I have only been to the Mandeville location. It is everyday tex-mex that I could get anywhere in America.
I am half Mexican and work part time in Mexico. Mexican food is very diverse depending on what part of Mexico your in.
Northshore people can go to La Noria Taqueria LINK on Highway 59 a couple of miles south of Fontainebleu High School. They sell the tex-mex crap that all the gringos eat but also offer real mexican food if you are adventurous. I suggest a bowl of menudo with a side of two lengua tacos. Greater New Orleans still lacks a upscale offering of real mexican food. It would do really good here, people just seemed to be programmed to expect gloopy cheese and sour cream. I hold out hope with the influx of workers that things will get better. i have found great tacos and tortas but would love to have Veracruzian style seafood or complex chicken mole dishes which are not available yet. I'll step off my soapbox.

There was a place on St. Charles for a while that fit this description. The guy had been in business for a while on a little site street next to Home Depot in Kenner, then decided to sink a bunch of money into a new place on St. Charles. Food was said to be pretty good and def. above the other local tex-mex places, but the owner was an arse. He drove customers away.
The hardest part for anyone that would attempt to open a high end Mex place would be to sell the idea to the general public that the food is worth the price. Everyone just assumes Mexican food is supposed to be cheap. When you start bringing in good seafood items and cooking better dishes with more quality ingredients, of course it is going to cost more.
And heaven forbid you have a place that doesn't offer free chips and salsa.

IMO it's not even the best Mexican joint in Kennerbrah much less the entire SE of LA. The fajitas might be a bad example b/c I understand what some of you are saying about the seasoning, but didn't care for the marinade at all at casa garcia. It reminded me of something you would bring home from the grocery to make fajitas at home. Me and the SO also had enchiladas, tamales, and by far one of the worst charro beans I have ever had. I know I'm in the minority here b/c the place was packed. Guess I just have different expectations when it comes to Mexican food.

Tomasitos is now filling that upscale void.

I did not enjoy Tomasitos the time I went. Tasted frozen and the drinks were not very good, either.

We just went. Had some kinks but I think it's going to be really good.

We can agree on this. The charro beans are horrible. I don't even touch them. one of these days I will remember to ask for a refried substitution.
You may not like the marinade I do and it it far better than the NONE at Superior. Plus once again, the whole caramelized onions deal.
I have noticed that sometimes the order is smaller than other times. The portion size seems inconsistent.
My whole argument for them being the best fajitas is at least to date I have not had better in the New Orleans area. Admittedly the bar is very low, but I like em and love the free bean dip.

I'm going here on Friday but am worried becAuse the only things mentioned on here have been free bean dip and fajitas. I'm an echilada man myself

My wife and her friends swear by the Margaritas.

I think people like this place b/c of the lack of options in the area.

Er...if it is the best in the area then it is the best in the area. WTF.
Nobody is saying it is the best in the continental USA.
