cabbage rolls - raw or cooked rice before baking?

I have old European recipes that swear by uncooked rice in cabbage rolls before they're baked, but most recipes call for cooked rice.

Any enlightenment from experience?

Raw rice. I dont bother rolling them anymore. I make a casserole now. I prefer it.
