NXR isn't bad at all. Here's a fairly recent threat from eGullet with pics & info on an NXR: LINK
The owner seemed to like it.

They have had some good reviews... Most people just wonder about the manufacturing process with stuff being used from all over the place and being assembled in china I think.

Get in touch with a marble contractor in your area. They will be able to open up the space and do the cabinets.

I'm in the final phases of getting houseplans drawn and have been looking at appliances. I have read about the Thermador cooktops, they look great and I think they are on to something with the star burners.

How do you like yours? Pros/Cons? Who did you buy it from?

This Kitchenaid dual fuel is a hair over 2 grand, but it is a double oven. We had one in our last house and loved it. Convection oven, too.

i like that version jax... going to look into it. I'd really like to find out a little more on this NXR range though... states that it has wolf burners... only drawback i'm seeing may be no electronics.

No electronics is not a drawback, it's a bonus. The BlueStars have no electronics--and thus, there is no circuitry to fail. So many of those high-end stoves are loaded with electronic "features" of dubious utility: timers, programmable on/off, step-down temps, preheating alerts. And the one part that eventually fails is the freakin' circuit board controlling it all. Replacing those boards can be as expensive as buying a new mid-range stove.

Talk to anyone who has made multiple repairs of a Viking afer only light use. The lack of circuitry in the NXR is what makes it appealing.

Bumping... I wanted to post a pic of the kitchen to see what you guys think about the possibility of making it 36"? I would assume i would lose too much to do it... But I'm not sure. I'm no contractor... I'm still open to suggestions.

So not worth upsizing to 36". Save the dough. 30" is plenty big enough unless you have a gigantic family. A hundred bucks will get you a stand alone plug in induction burner for the 2-3 times a year when you might need more than four burners. I'd spend the cash getting rid of the toy hood/microwave combo. A real, externally vented hood is a must if you actually cook in that kitchen. Otherwise those pretty cabinets will get greasy toute de suite.

The combo micro hood is without a doubt the worst piece of junk found in American kitchens.

Agree on the microwave vent combo. Don't do it. Get the external vent.

I have a 36" stovetop with gas grill in the middle. I love it.

This is what I was leaning towards...
We were thinking of buying all at one place, we need a new mattress as well... So, we are looking at Olindes as a possibility b/c we can get everything at 1 place. At the moment I dont know of any other place other than maybe Sears that I can get all that I need. Mattress, range, fridge, and dishwasher....
B/c of that I'm leaning towards the GE line. Any pros and cons with going all GE on the appliances?

Not a fan of the all from one line appliances. Why in the heck would you post questions about higher end appliances then think you can get those from the same place that will sell you a mattress? LOL.

Not really sure about whats so funny?
I'm asking questions about everything.... if you read the original post it says that i'm trying to stay away from what I consider high end appliances ex Wolf, Viking, Thermador, Sub Zero just to name a few. I'd prefer to stay with the likes of maybe a 2k range, I don't consider this upper end and this can be had from Olindes for example. Which also has a location with mattresses. Only problem with them is that your limited to GE and Samsung.
I'm looking to resale in 5-7yrs and was thinking that maybe having the same appliances is a good thing for resale? I've never had to buy a whole set of appliances... just trying to make an informed decision. I figured i'd probably avg 2k for the stove and fridge and under 1k for the dishwasher.
Where would you suggest I look in that price range? To be honest I didn't know I could get things from one local location until this afternoon...

I suggest that your decisions on appliances not rest upon the ability to buy them all in one place or all in the same line. Study each appliance and decide individually.

I would think your best price comes from one of the online appliance sites like AJ Madison. The kitchen isn't big enough to require a 36" range and I think the 30" would be fine. Ditch the microwave vent and personally I think stainless steel would look much better than white appliances if you are talking resale.

Kenmore Elite

I have this one in my house and love it. It's 36" and the turbo boil burner is amazing with 18,000 BTUs. It boils water in no time. The oven is also pretty nice with convection included. It says $1700 but I got mine at Sears for around $1400 with a sale.

This is the best bang for your buck IMO specially if you are spending money to redo the counters. The only con is the stove top is painted and sometimes is hard to clean.
