Buffalo Trace vs RNDC discussion

The list of Sazerac products is really long, many things you might even not realize are Sazerac products are owned by them like Taka, Firefly, Fireball, Meyer Rum, Margaritaville tequila, etc, etc. Last Year Republic lost some of the Sazerac most well-known bourbons to Glazer. Stuff like Eagle Rare, Pappizzz, etc, but kept other brands like Buffalo Trace, Sazerac and Stagg.

Goldring owns Sazerac and lives in NOLA, he owns a lot of beer distributors around the country. He has sold the beer distributors off to his son and now can consolidate his large collection of alcohol into the distributor now owned by his son.

We will have to see if this is better for the customers in the long run. I haven't seen a Glazer rep in my place in 1.5 years and they won't sell me any Sazerac products, won't tell me what I need to do to sell them, so I'm at an inpass with Glazers in regard to Sazerac products.

It is moving to Cresent & Crown, they currently distribute a lot of beer, big names are Miller and Coors

There will be no noticeable changes. People don’t realize items such as the allocated bourbons are not in high supply to the wholesaler to begin with.

Glazers now has 5 divisions hence 5 different reps if not more per account. It's essentially impossible to navigate it to get the allocations you want unless you are close with people in Glazers that are up the food chain. The reps can't do anything for you, you have to speak to managers in each division and you have to know exactly what those divisions have. If you ask your Glazers rep for something allocated they don't have the authority or the knowledge to make much happen, also if it's something in a different division they don't even rep it technically so you really aren't going to get anywhere. They have grown so big that 1) they don't care about Louisiana at all. 2) They don't care about smaller independent accounts.

I am sorry to hear that. I worked for Glazers years ago (pre-great southern merger) and I made that Maurepas run every Tuesday for 2-3 years. I would make it a point to stop in on every account that way weekly/bi-weekly even though the volume for most on premise accounts was pretty light. RIP Kevin.

I would not be surprised if Mike with RNDC is still running that area

Lol, that’s good to hear. That is a perfect example of the difference between Glazers/RNDC. A lot of my buddies who have stayed in the industry long term have migrated to RNDC over the years. Glazers changed how they pay their reps and have experienced a ton of turnover.

The problem is Glazers has acquired about 80% of the brands you have to have.
