Chuck's Hop Spot
Chuck's Hop Shop has two locations. I've only been to the one on 85th. It's legit. Check the tap lists online if you're debating on which one to go to.
Look for Block 15 and pFriem beers there, as well.

Wow you guys are giving me some good stuff. Really appreciate it. Any thoughts on Base camp, Hair of the Dog, or Upright? They're close to Sunnyside.

I can't tell you much about Hair of the Dog except that I like the beers that I've tried from them. But I've never been for a visit. Fred (the beer) is amazing.
Another good restaurant in downtown Seattle is Cutter's Bayhouse. It's a few blocks north of Pike Place.

Upright - good Belgian style beer, but it's in the basement of a building and hard to find. It's kind of a cool place to hang out for a few minutes, but you're actually in the brewing space when you enter, so there isn't much room to sit. Their hours are odd, so check before you go.
Hair of the Dog - Excellent. They have a brewpub, and they have very good food. It's a typical Portland new-age brewery - very industrial. They always have a barrel aged "from the wood" beer.
Base Camp - Fantastic spot. Great views and a cool place to hang out - both inside and out. Outside, they have fire pits where you can make s'mores. Inside is really cool, as well, with lots of burlwood tabletops. Beer is pretty good. At night, the view of downtown Portland is great. Best ambience of all of the places you mentioned, by far. They have not one, but two food carts parked outside, so you'll have food choices.
While in that neighborhood, Cascade Barrel House and The Commons are both cool places to hang. Lots of taprooms in the area, too. The Beermongers, Apex Bar, and Loyal Legion are probably the best.

I actually do, but stuff changes, so I have to edit...
Not often that people from LA want to come to Portland, so when they do, I like to see them enjoy themselves...

To revive my dead thread, my trip is a few days away and I have come up with some solid day plans. We have 3.5 days. The first day is Saturday when we will check in, go to Jam on Hawthorne for lunch, hit cathedral park, Sauvie Island, and return for Portland City Grill. Hopefully will be celebrating an engagement at PCG. Next day I am planning on hitting up downtown and the pearl for Powell's, Ground Kontrol, Blue Star, a museum, Fat Head's, Deschutes, 10 Barrel, and some combination of andina, food truck pod, little big burger, and salt and straw. Third day will be East portland including OMSI, Ladd's addition, Ken's artisinal pizza, lardo, and some combination of Hair of the dog, cascade, basecamp, belmont station, etc. Fourth day we take an early train to seattle so will probably try to eat something quickly at the airbnb. Girlfriend is handling Seattle but I have passed on the suggestions.
I am torn between apizza scholls and ken's. Maybe I will do both.
Everything sound good?
