I remember that place as a kid and early teen. I think that it was called Wagon Wheel and it was across the street from St. Gerards where Buger King sits.

1st, there was a semi-fast food restaraunt on Florida about parallel with Independence park. Sold Arby's style Roast Beef sandwiches (but better quality) and some really awesome apple turnovers. 80's?

Larry K. Sullivans was on Airline. Right in the general area of Franks. The building was there forever, but I think now it has been replaced with something newer. Right across form El Rio Grande.

Maravichs was on Silverleaf just north of Greenwell. There may have been more than one.

Hows about the Cherokee BBQ on Plank Rd and Calumet.
They had nice size rib-eyes, a baked potato, and salad for $4.95
Or Ruby's before Georges on Perkins under the over pass. The Iron Pot where Ivars is now.
Yes I'm old.....

Chuckwagon

ETA: Also, across the street from Krispy Kreme on the corner Plank & Hollywood was another donut shop called Peno's Donuts. And there used to be a fast food place called Pedro's Tacos on the same side as Peno's but opposite corner.

Yeah, the Patio is still open. About to get really cranking with small December and January crawfish for $26.95 for a 5 pound order.

Frickn tourists drive the price up on everything....

No, that building was actually built for Pedro's...Now there were probably businesses previously on that corner, but I don't know what they were...Plank Road was a happening area of town back then with lots of thriving biz's.

On the other corner, Peno's Donuts was before KK and couldn't hang with KK so they closed shop..That corner would eventually give way to a go go joint.

I thought the people that owned cafe louisiane were the carleton family. They have carleton catering. One of the brothers is about to open in central.

It was actually at the intersection of Airline and Tom, right next to where Sugars used to be......if you remember Sugars, please raise your hand.....
