Watching high school dropout "chefs" open and heat SYSCO packages could sure make for a compelling 10 minute TV segment.
Isn't that the overwhelming majority of restaurants here though? Seriously, I hate to be old pissy Mike here, but without SYSCO, people would be up a creek left with only grilling protein for a living. Not that there aren't people in these establishments that couldn't pull it off, but you'd have to shake some rust off I'm sure.

Dangling... It's not as if Chimes or Walkons is really doing anything off the charts here. It's pretty close to the same kind of stuff. Some things are decent at the Chimes and other things are decent at Walkons, but there's not really that big of a gulf between them.
Agree. I don't think either one should be on the show. If you ever watch, they show the most amazing things these little dives cook. They almost always make something in a way rarely seen. There is nothing at WalkOns or Chimes with food rarely seen or done with special techniques/ingredients.
Chelsea's has a menu with some really different dishes compared to what we're used to seeing everywhere, so foodwise I'd say they could be on it but they're not really a dive :/

love this place
Had an AWESOME meal when I went here, but I don't think I'd want to go back without a group of people because it was just Brag and I and we were the only people in the place and there were like 6 kids running around. Usually doesn't bother me but they don't speak English and would play on our table we were eating at it. Some sat and stared at us eating
I love mom and pops places but that outright made me uncomfortable.

If they incorporated a Saturday of tailgating and the food/characters you find around the stadium, then you are on to something.
other than that ... maybe Pinettas, Louies, Chelseas and Fleur De Lis could qualify
not a good dive bar in BR anymore (old happy note, thirsty tiger and Bayou were solid dives)

slinky's, the patio, the office (not the one downtown), old new orleans, skeeters, time out, all qualify as dive bars imo.
and teddy's juke joint in zachary is going to be my new favorite spot despite the steep cover.

Walkons above Chimes.
Food is the same and walkons service sucks. So Chimes is way better than walkons imo.
