I've been watching a lot of the Bon Appetit channel on the Roku channel. Anyone else here give it much time? I think it is better than Food Network ever was and better than Bon Appetit magazine ever was.

Some of the hosts took me a bit to adjust to, but I've found their shows actually useful. I watched one where their sommelier tried a bunch of sub-$15 wines and gave pretty honest opinions on. There was one show the other evening in a commercial bakery, and they spent 30 minutes just showing you the tools and equipment. Some I knew, some I never would have thought of.

If you can get past the metro NYC type cast, the content is solid.

Most of Bon Appetit video content is garbage now that the Somalian girl blew up the entire company in 2020.

I'm guessing the Roku Channel content is older. I just pulled up a list of their talent that left, and most of what I have seen includes them.

Ah, yes that must be it. Pre-2020, I was a huge fan of BA's content. The perfect Thanksgiving episodes from 2019 are great, if you haven't watched that yet. I find Chris, Andy, and Molly to always have winner recipes.

After all the drama they had in 2020, they overcorrected in a bad way. Much of their content both in the magazine and on the channel now doesn't appeal to their target base anymore because it's very niche ethnic stuff.

Yeah, I think I've nearly exhausted all of those over the years. That is probably why I have started watching more of the BA lately.
ROKU is great. If all else fails, I can always put on This Old House and be happy :P. I don't watch a great deal of TV, and what I do probably mirrors Ron Swanson's TV viewing.

Most of them are pre-2020. Adam Rapoport is even in several of the shows. The first time I saw him in one I was like WTH

I enjoy them also, especially Chris Morocco's show Reverse Engineering. It's amazing how he can copy dishes just by taste without seeing them.

They started showing a lot of shows now that were filmed during covid and even a few that are post-pandemic.

This. That being said, for a two or three year period, BA Test Kitchen was the best thing on Youtube. They just had "it".

I don’t do bon appetit, but I do the next roku channel over, America’s Test Kitchen. It’s great, however I wish they’d add more episodes to the rotation. They have over 20 years to pull from, it shouldn’t be that hard.

I was prepared to be annoyed at the TV or at least discount everything he said simply because he looks like LL Cool J dressed up as Where's Waldo.

He did another I saw where he tasted 20 or so celebrity wines. He seems to know his stuff, but breaks it down into a trustworthy review.

Not only BA, but she also managed to take down the podcast Reply All with it. Reply All tried to do a woke expose on the BA drama, and then the Reply All staff out-woked the producers and forced them to quit.

Wow. This is hilarious. I knew about the podcast, but didn't know there was drama and it ended Reply All. I used to be a listener to their early stuff.

Sohla is a garbage person for everything she did. The fact that anyone is willing to hire her/work with her when she's such a massive risk at ruining your life is unbelievable. Woke people are clueless.
