I don't know about that. I know for a fact I can peel seafood with the best of them and can easily peel crawfish faster than shrimp.

However, you won't get the amount of meat out of a crawfish like you would out of a shrimp. Rule of thumb for a shrimp boil is about 1 1/2 lbs. per person with all the other stuff in the boil. For crawfish it is generally about 5 lbs. per person plus the other stuff.

Off he top of my head, I'd estimate 2/3 of the shrimps weight is meat whereas about 1/5 of a crawfish is meat.

I've peeled a lot of full sacks of boiled crawfish and only wound up with about 4 lbs. of tail meat when done.

I'm living up in SC as well. If you find a spot that sells decent crawfish, bump this thread!

Any Baw from the bayou will take that bet any day of the week.

I personally don’t even peel. Pop the tail from the head and pull the meat straight from the tail with your teeth. Roughly 3-4 seconds per crawfish. It literally takes longer to grab your next crawfish.

I would bet you everything in your account (all five dollars)that I can eat a crawfish faster than you can peel a shrimp. True cajun crawfish eaters don't even need to peel a ring on a mudbug. Light pressure with your teeth and you pull it right out the shell.

I don't think you do. If you've only had them at "the buffets" (I would never eat those), there's no telling what you were eating and I highly doubt the flavor was anything like what we have here. I would reserve your opinion until you've come to Louisiana and had the real deal. I love shrimp, but I also love crawfish and I can peel and eat them pretty darn quickly and that crawfish fat!

100 qt makes the most sense. If ur using a double jet burner and cranking it up it will eventually crack the bottom of the thinner aluminum pots.

80 quarts; It'll fit a sack with all the fixings. 60quart would do but it'll jammed packed with your crawfish and fixings.

if you had to order them to be shipped where would you buy them from?

I've had good experience with both lacrawfish.com and cajuncrawfish.com

I haven't! I'm a recentish transplant, but that's 10 minutes up the road from my house. Will be checking it out ASAP. How's the food there?

For someplace outside of Louisiana I have no complaints. The downtown location is new and has oysters but I haven't tried them yet. The Pelham location has good gumbo and everything else is good.

The crawfish boils are hit or miss. Sometimes they aren't spicy but other times they are acceptable

You have absolutely no clue. We don't peel them. We squeeze the tail and pull the meat out with our teeth.
