Also, I feel quite confident their cinco party goes a bit differently than Superior’s.

Didn’t think we needed a whole new thread, but it looks like Boil & Roux is now suing the city because they were disciplined for openly breaking the liquor laws:

“The unjust suspension of [Boil and Roux’s] liquor license is causing irreparable harm and damage to the restaurant and its employees due to the steep decline of sales, because of their inability to serve alcohol,” Haley wrote in the filing.

Can someone with lawyering experience explain this?

The board voted to suspend Boil and Roux’s liquor license for 2 months and impose a fine for those violations. At a court hearing Tuesday morning, city-parish attorneys made Walker and his defense attorney an offer to shorten that suspension to only 30 days, according to a report from The Advocate newspaper.
The Advocate reported that Walker was also told to pay a $2,100 fine by Friday and serve a year-long probation.

Though the board voted to suspend the license earlier this year, that suspension never began because Boil and Roux’s alcohol license had already expired and had not been renewed.

They need to move to North Airline Hwy where they will be welcomed.

Boil & Roux now faces eviction in legal battle with property owners

quote:
Since December 2014, the embattled restaurant has leased the building and parking lot at its current location in the 1700 block of Coursey Boulevard. But Grand Wall Chinese Supper Buffet, the property’s Gonzales landlord, says Boil & Roux’s owner has failed to pay its $6,144-a-month rent since last June and the proprietor is renewing its push to have a judge kick the restaurant off the premises.
quote:
Grand Wall Chinese Supper Buffet filed its petition for the eviction Feb. 28. According to those court records, Boil & Roux never asked the landlord for permission to make renovations last year when it added a fence and constructed an outdoor patio. Those upgrades to the property led to code and ordinance violations levied by Baton Rouge city inspectors, the filing stated. Grand Wall Chinese Supper Buffet says the renovations also violated the terms of the commercial lease agreement and served to further validate the motion for eviction. It’s not the first time the landlord has sought to sever its ties with Boil & Roux over non-payment. Court records show Grand Wall Chinese Supper Buffet filed a November 2020 lawsuit asking the courts to initiate eviction proceedings, alleging the restaurant was nearly $18,000 behind on unpaid rent. The property owner also said Boil & Roux failed to retain renters’ commercial insurance and cited police calls to the property as evidence of ongoing criminal and illegal drug activity.

here’s what I don’t understand.
nobody cares that it’s a “black owned business”…white racists aren’t clamoring to shut them down because of melanin. The problem is they seem to think that the rules of society and government don’t seem to apply to them because they are black.
Hammond where I live is majority black. Downtown though is 99% white owned businesses. There’s one black owned “lounge” right behind Cena by the RR tracks…it’s a fricking menace. Not because they are black but because the crowd is disrespectful and disruptive…blocking traffic, twerking in the street, loud and abusive and just overall incapable of just being part of a bigger community.
And when people complain, rightly…we are the racists

I don't see how you can not pay rent for damn near a year and still be operating.

to be fair, the crowd parking there and walking to the brown door, etc. is the issue
hookah bar keeps to itself and their hours kind of offset the "nicer" things on that side of town

I drove past it Sunday night, about 630. The street was blocked by black queens on all fours shaking their asses. The brown door is not the issue there

thats the only thing open in Hammond at that time on a Sunday too, so i will agree there..
BUT...
I promise you, I'm in that area a lot more than you are, lol
