I hate cooked cabbage. We make a vinegar coleslaw instead an it’s great. Just white vinegar, salt and black pepper. Kids love it as well.

I made “new years day gumbo” today:
Fried off some country style ribs, then cut into bite sized pieces. Added flour to the fry oil to make a roux. Added in onions, bell peppers, carrots. Cooked down the veggies then added chicken stock, black eyed peas, sliced cabbage and some apple cider vinegar. Simmered for 2-3 hrs (until the peas were tender).
Added in some cooked bacon just prior to service. Served over rice.
Was very tasty.
