Thinking about going there tomorrow before LSU commencement ceremony. Which Baton Rouge location is nicer, and is the food any good?

Food is very good. We go to the new location simply because its close to our house.

Government St. location, sit on the patio. That's my suggestion. Both are pretty nice though.

Go with the Gov't location. The location on Perkins is nice. But the atmosphere hasn't picked up yet.

I just went to their website and the Government Street location does seem nicer and it is closer to the LSU Maddox Field House.

I like the atmosphere of the original spot more than the Perkins area location. That's not to say that the Perkins location is crappy btw.

Can you recommend any menu items?

The pot roast is their #1 item. It is very good.
I also love the Back of the Stove Chicken, Turkey Merci, Shrimp Louie Sandwich, Bistro Bomber Sandwich, all of their burgers (regular, turkey, and veggie)...
The bleu cheese chips app is fantastic, but get the sauce/cheese on the side. Much better than on top.
The carrot souffle is the best side. I get it as dessert.
If you're a salad person, the Asian Vinaigrette awesome.

The back of the stove chicken is really good. I like both locations but Government still seems to have a slightly better atmosphere. The Perkins location just stills feel too new. Both are great, though. Their food isn't really spicy or overly flavorful (in other words, some people think it can be bland) but tastes like good home cooking to me.

The burgers are good, Shrimp Louie, Pot Roast, The tuna salad or sandwich are both good. I've never had a bad meal at the Shreveport location.

I'm a fan of the pot roast, pork chops & steak frite as far as entrees go.
I haven't tried any of their burgers, sandwiches or poboys. But I've heard good things.
The corn & shrimp soup is also a nice starter iterm.
I'm assuming you'll be going around lunch time on Saturday?

Yes, around 2:00. My sons's commencement is tomorrow at 5:30 at the LSU Maddox Field House.

Just called to make reservations. Too late, they are booked. Any more suggestions??????

If you are going to the Gov't location. Arrive a bit earlier, I'm sure you won't be the only family who has decided to go there before commencement.
I'm not entirely sure. But you might be able to get a look at their brunch menu as well. Does anyone know if Byronz specifically does brunch on Sundays?
Congrats to your son
*****Call the Perkins location.

eta: OP: Didn't see you got a reservation.
If redhead is working, ask for her. Specifically call her Red/Redhead. They don't know her by her real name there. She's my best friend and a lot of fun :)

Redhead is at the Perkins location? I am so bummed about the Government location, though.

heard they are opening a new orleans location within the next year or so. we'll see how they can compete with the new orleans mainstays.
