When OP said freshwater I wasn't thinking salmon since they only live in fresh a very short time.

Yah most of you guys in the NW fish for them in saltwater yah? Everybody fishes them in the river here. They are much more fat than those salmon down there.

Walleye fishing does not involve bobbers baw

The fact that some people ITT are putting catfish, a bottom feeding throw away fish in lake country, in their top 3, confirms that we are the authority on this topic.

Folks in the midwest would slap you if you suggested it for a Friday fish fry with all the delicious clean species we have.

Hmmm. I like bream (bluegill), sacalait (crappie), and catfish. I will seek out walleye because of this thread. Never seen one or had the opportunity to eat one.

Without reading the thread...if sac-a-lait wasn't named best tasting at least five times, I will have lost faith in the FDB.

eta: 13 times. Also, I need to try some Walleye apparently. And whatever Unagi is???

It's probably 50/50. Majority of mine is done in the river/tribs.

The fattiest salmon we get are the Spring Salmon that migrate up the Columbia starting about now. They eat everything in sight because they will live in the rivers/tribs til they spawn in fall.

This time of the year, fresh bass. From cold water. About a two pound bass is my favorite. Then of course the bag of milk

I’ve always wondered why bass doesn’t get more love considering it’s a nice clean taste.
