If these are all out of town buddies, and if they all aren't beer nerds, then i'd go to Olive or Twist or Bulldog. I love the bar layout of olive or twist, but you have a lot more room to work with at bulldog. Or do both!

Bulldog is a good bar, with a decent beer list. I find their beer lines should be changed out or cleaned. But it has a nice patio.

I dont know. Ive never noticed this to be a problem there and Ive been there pretty steady since the day it opened.

I know what you meant... but honestly I can tell you that I've checked those many web sites or social media sites before going somewhere exactly zero times in my life.

I know Olive or Twist is going to have some good options on tap... same with the other places you listed.

Well, considering the last time I set foot in there, they had exactly zero IPAs and pale ales on tap, it would be nice to know what I'm getting myself into. If you pride yourself in having a rotating selection, you at least owe it to your customers to let them know what the current selection is.

And I like Olive or Twist, don't get me wrong. But there's no excuse in this day and age not to be able to keep an updated tap list online somewhere.

simply because if we're going to have 10-12 people getting together Olive or Twist it would not be as easy to find a place to sit.

They expanded but youre going to still have trouble with 10 or 12 people depending on when you go.

I'd take Corporate Brew & Draft out of that list

The only out of town people will be my wife and me.

As I said, we're coming in for a family thing. So I was just hoping to carve some time out to see old friends all at once somewhere since we won't have time to visit people on multiple occasions.

It may be the beer then. Was trying some sours on tap, and a couple of them tasted very old.

Bulldog sounds like your spot.

I think you're right.

Thanks again to all giving advice. I now want to check out that Corporate place though. Maybe next trip into town.

That's unfortunate... they have had a few different hoppy choices the last times I've been.

I get cocktails there almost as often as beer though, so if they don't have a beer I really want, it's not going to ruin my day.

Huh....I always check lists before I choose what taproom I'm going to.

You probably also have more to choose from. Up there in the NW and all.

In BR it's pretty simple... Chimes (or Chimes East) if I'm wanting dinner and some good beers, Olive or Twist for happy hour or brunch, Bulldog for trivia or the patio when the weather is nice.

I've never checked the tap lists to make a decision, because I know they'll all have several beers that I'll like.

Now I will go to a place specifically for a beer release or event, but that's a little different than checking the list beforehand.

ETA: I do on occasion use Beermenus or Untappd to see what a place has on tap once I'm there since some (looking at you, Chimes and Chimes East) don't keep their print menu updated.

Without question but I would still check with only a few options.

Eta...just learned there aren't a lot of choices in Olympia or Tacoma so it's more of an Oregon thing than a NW thing.

I guess there's usually so little variance in what places have on tap (with the exception of Corporate, but like people have said, the atmosphere is like drinking at your dentist's office) that checking is mostly pointless. I know all of places mentioned in this thread will have plenty on tap that I'll be happy to drink.

I'm so curious to see what this place looks like based on how it's been described in this thread.

You know y'all can go to Tin Roof too. They've been making quite the turnaround over there, and have been having some tap room only releases every few weeks.
