ribeye>filet>porterhouse
Only have ever eaten steak out at Ruth's; it was a filet and was great. Other than that every other steak I've eaten came from my dad's grill.

1. Ribeye
2. Some steakhouse in Buenos Aires... wide assortments of bbq'd steak with chimichuri.
One of the best meals of my life

Not impressed with the meat, and surely not the service.
It's hard to find a better steak restaurant than Ruth's.
Here's a wildcard for you though. Try the cowboy cut ribeye @ the Hollywood casino. Chef Kerry is a damn good chef.

I prefer ribeyes. Had a buffalo ribeye with melted blue cheese at Perry's here in Houston not long ago...was pretty awesome. The best I've had though was probably the Tbone at the original Doe's in Greenville, MS.

curious for the 'bone in' ribeye crowd. why do you prefer it over boneless? personally i like to destroy what's on my plate without getting stuck gnawing around the bone..and yep..i'm going to gnaw every molecule of meat off that bone because i'm a complete neanderthal.
ny strip..meh. i do remember having one years ago at ruth's that i enjoyed..but for the life of me i can't figure out why i'd order that over a GORGEOUS RARE MARBLED RIBEYE. NY strip seems less flavorful and i'm more likely to end up with gristle/inedible parts on my plate.
ribeye gets eaten 100%..i rarely leave anything behind.

I find that a great strip has a wonderful flavor.
To each his own.

Tough to pick. Probably best I've had is a japanese kobe beef ribeye at the Metropolitan Grill in Seattle. It's the only time I've ordered real Japanese kobe beef so I guess the other restaurants don't get a fair comparison.
Mastro's in Beverly Hills would probably be a close second. I had the bone in ribeye there.
Other than that I've had really good steaks at the following places. They're all so good it's almost splitting hairs.
Ruth's Chris
Flemming's
Papa's Brothers
Andrea's about 10 years ago (Veal bone in if that counts)
Rainbow Lodge (buffalo ribeye if that counts)
Perry's
C and H Steakhouse
Vic and Anthony's
Smith and Wollensky's
Cafe Dominique in Houma

i think a ribeye might be more 'forgiving' in that its not so critical you buy prime; with the marbling and just the type of cut it is; its almost guaranteed to be tasty every time.
as for ny strip..either i can't cook it properly or you have to be picky about finding a good one. i admit the last time i enjoyed a ny strip was in the 1980s at ruth's..over the years i've 'tried' to like it..order it from time to time at steakhouses..but its just not good.
maybe i'll try ordering one again next time i'm at ruth's to see if its as good as i remember.

I'm a ribeye fan personally.
However, the best steak I've ever tried was probably a bone-in filet at Pappas Bros. in Houston.
Either that or a ribeye at a little hole-in-the-wall place in South Texas... that was delicious.

Yeah, I guess I need to try ribeyes a little more often too. I have too many in the past that I just thought were too fatty.

Favorite - Prime NY Strip
Best - Binion's Steakhouse in Las Vegas. Why? Because I ate there free.

Yeah, it was hours of play. We had a lot of table play hours in our 4 days. It actually starts to get old, even though we paid for our trip and then some...
