Do the math on that Jack. Gas at $3.75. 4 to 6 gallons to drive to VP and back. Cost is $15.00 to $22.00.

VP sausage = $3.50lb
Johnsons sausage = $6.75lb

Gotta buy 5 to 7 pounds of VP sausage to break even.

You think I'm bored

Not a problem. I'm gonna buy 20 next time I go sew the parents.

Moped is always an option too.

i typically agree with this. where do you usually buy in VP? my family has always purchased from B&S but the last couple of years the sausage has not been as good. Last batch of boudin was solid as always but something about the sausage hasn't been right.

I don't always drive when I visit Louisiana, so often I'm getting my sausage from places that ship. Recently ordered from Best Stop, after hearing so many good things on here. I wasn't that impressed. Boudin didn't have much flavor and I thought the sausage was just ok. May look for some other place to order from next time.

B&S, Paul's, teets, K&B. That's my goto places.

VP has great boudin but I prefer nunu's or t-boys in mamou. Nb4finmentionsmowata. But I've never found sausage that compares with VP.

I called a few meat markets asking if they had smoked sausage, their response was "yeah we have Richards and savoies "

we've always been loyal to B&S but I'll have to give these other places a try.

i've never tried the boudin at either of those places; will have to do that. we've been getting our boudin at B&S for as long as i can remember.

that is pretty sad; of course, i've used both in a pinch before but i'm not proud to say it..

Teets is the real deal. The other day I had a cream cheese and jalopeno stuffed Ponce from there.

Hebert's in Maurice sell a VP smoked sausage. It's not too far a drive if you are on the southern side of lafayette. Also, albertson's on ambassador has Rabideaux's sausage. It is not $3.50/lb though. It's around 5.30/lb.

uncle jack - the pork garlic sausage is 5.64 per pound. you must have got a pack that more than a pound (if not let me know and I owe you). We use only the Boston Butt cut of pork. We don't use parts to make our sausage. We also smoke it for 6-7 hours, so we end up with less product than a lot of folks out there. Unfortunately the cost of pork is way up. The price is what we need to make a little profit. I hope you found that the quality of the product was worth what you spent. If not let me know and I will give you a full refund. Thanks, Greg

I had the mixed sausage and I'm almost certain the lady rang it up at 6.75/lb and it was very good FTR, my Jambalaya was annihilated.

I guess I'm just used to spending $3-$4 a lb in ville Platte.
