I think Mabiles poboys are some of the best around.....Really good Shrimp and Ferty

Andouille chips are a must. Stay away from the brisket, it is as tough as jerky. They do have fish on the menu, I've heard good things but never had it.

Why did it close?

We use to go there for lunch 2 or 3 times a month, when I worked at the Texaco refinery back in the 70's. Back then, the small shrimp plate, Po boy and a beer was about $7.

They sometimes serve fried catfish over butter beans and shrimp and it is so good!

Nobiles in Lutcher rivals Middendorfs for thin catfish. They also have a buck of really good options on the menu

The Carriage House at Houmas House should be on this list. Good mix of south Louisiana favorites and some nice upper end dishes. If you go, just tell the front desk you are there to eat so you don’t pay to tour the grounds
