And for some reason, always takes at least 45 minutes to get, no matter how empty or crowded the place is. Used to like going there, but I think I'm over it -- as are apparently a lot of others judging by the crowds there last couple of times I've been. I think all the new "gourmet" burger joints must be really hurting them.

5 is extremely difficult to pick but mine would look something like
Patois
Brigstens
LIlette
Gautreaus
Commanders

But Dantes Kitchen, le petite grocery, Upperline, atchafalaya, Upperline, Apolline, and Clancys could all fall in there

Rohan - what burger do you recommend uptown? I am waiting for Smash and Charcoal to open.

Man I can't think of a place I get burgers upon on a regular basis. Usually I just drive over to Company. Down The Hatch used to be good but not so much anymore. I like the black and blue burger at Avenue Pub a lot.

Joey K's - white beans, fried pork chop and fish bowl of abita is one of my favorite homestyle meals in the city.

Maybe I'll have to go and try that. I just find that I can get a better plate lunch style meal out in Harahan or Metairie.

We prefer Juan's over Tacquerina, and we live right next door to rum house - and frequent it too.

Not sure where Tacquerina is

Plum Crazy just opened and will likely replace Sucre for my dessert stop some nights.

Maybe that will be good. I'm not really into desserts.

Ah. Taqueria Corona. It's alright. The one in Harahan is better, IMO. Although it's still not anything special.

As far as Mexican food goes my friend swears by the taco truck that's on Claiborne just across Carrollton going toward Old Jefferson.

Also try out Los Paisanos on Claiborne @ Louisiana. It's good cheap traditional mexican food. Leave the wife at home though. Especially if you're there after dark.

I'm originally from Shreveport. Have lived in university, broadmoor, uptown and now lower garden. Like where I'm at now the best so far.

I live on the Ave by Lee Circle. I haven't been drinking UPT lately. I dine there, but drink in the Quarter/Frenchmen.

My rotation is Ave Pub, Rendezvous, Dino's, Rusty Nail.

You been to this place The Bricks on St. Joseph @ Carondelet? Only time I went (on a Friday night) it was me and my buddy and the bartender. Nobody else. They have a small good courtyard that would be great for a football game if you got a group of folks to take it over.

Any ideas on when a good night/time to go is where there's a livelier crowd?

btw, been hanging out at your spot Henry's recently. like that they always have a ton of MLB games on. cheap drinks too.
