Unpopular opinion: the Original Don’s is there. I go about 5 times per year when I visit

you probably haven't been to Don's downtown in 6 years b/c it's GONE ! Closed in March 2020, sold and demo'd for an 83 room hotel . Sad b/c it was one of the oldest restaurants in Lafayette, est. 1934. On a side note, Don's Seafood Hut on Johnston St. is booming right now, always packed and they have great charbroiled oysters.

was it Rob Rue ? He was a popular entertainer in the 80's-90's and booked lots of appearances around town.

It is very noisy and average fried food. Atmosphere is nice, but the noise is not.

Ive been a few times and got the pork chop, which I recommended earlier, and it was always great. It didnt seem loud in there to me as it was mostly an older clientele and I dont expect a restaurant to be like a funeral. The owner himself told me there are a few dishes that standout above the rest and the pork chop was one of them and maybe the filet medallions or something like that.

We ended up going to Southern Table and Social Bar.

Place was great. Bar was really good, huge selection of bourbon.

We got the Krab Nachos, side of grits, mushroom flatbread, I ended up trying the burger and it was great.
